When I was younger I thought that everything I did was written down in a big book that other people would get to read when I died. Sometimes I would "remember" and in my head I would be reciting what would go in the book. I suppose I was influenced by Michael Ende's The Neverending Story.

my brother can count to a hundred.
if you ask him, he will. and when he reaches 99, he stops for a moment and says, "at 100 you die"

clearly he's associating counting with age.

I used to believe that when you died your tounge stuck out and you put your hands across your chest, oryou held flowers. When my brother and I would fake death when we played that's what we did.

When I was a kid, I used to believe that if you walked on a grave, the dead would rise out of the ground and haunt you for the rest off your life. Ever since then, I have been afraid of dead bodies. Even now, even when I know that was a lie, I still have a fear of dead bodies.

When I was a kid I though heaven is a bunch of big antic temples (like in Aten or Rome.) placed on clouds.
When I saw big white clouds on sky I tryed hard to see some buldings on them.
Also I thought Angels(all ppl who died) and God loved to watch what ppl on earth are doing caz they could see throo walls. *Jesus had some smarter stuff to do.
So when night came there was no clouds on sky caz heaven went on other side of Earth, where it was sunny,so angles and God could see everything.
I somethimes felt very uncomftrible in bathroom thinking how God and my dead uncle are watching me...

When I was small, and my mom was bathing me, she would say "let me wash your body" and then would proceed to wash my genital area. So,,, whenever I heard from the radio that a "body" was found I got a horrific picture in my young head and wondered what happened to the rest of dead person.

This one is a bit obscure, but my dad once told me that humans can be put down in Sweden, like with animals at the vets, and although he was obviously joking, Sweden is still a high rate suicide country, so that must be why he thought of it. Still funny that I believed it anyway.

When I was a child I used to believe that when somebody died, he/she really moved to another city or another country with a new family. That person started a new life, and is a little baby now.

I was born in the 70's, so you know those old 80's photographs where there was almost a shadow of just your face up in the corner, in addition to the full length shot of you over most of the paper. Well, my cousin told me that the shadow face was my twin sister who had died and I just didn't remember her. I CRIED and believed it until I asked my Mom about my twin sister, and she told me the truth.

I used to believe (when I was about 9 years old) that people that were announced dead in the news weren't dead for real (that it was make-up news). I only believed that people that died instantly (as in a car accident) were the only ones who really died. That was after I asked my aunt what was "died in the act"(translated literally from spanish "murió en el acto") and she explained that people who died that way, died in the instant the accident ocurred. That was when I assumed those were the only ones who died and people who were taken to the hospital and died was make-up news.

When I was realy little my aunt died so I was expsosed to death. So when ever we went in the car, and I "fell asleep" (I always pertended that I would be asleep so I could get carried into the house) I would pretend to snore because I thought that my dad would think that I was dead if I was just sleeping normaly with out snoring.

I grew up in the 60's and I truly believed that hiding under my school desk would stop the atomic bomb from hurting me. Wow what a kid will believe when taught by adults of whom they believed to know it all. The bomb never came however; I do not look for a desk anymore when I hear a bomb is possible...Who knows maybe that school desk could have saved me........:-)
