I had just finished my 5th birthday party, and my mom was downstairs cleaning up. When she put away the cake, she gave me the candle on the top. It was one of the kind that are in the shape of the number. So mine was this big colorful 5. She said that I could take it up to my room. This was a big surprise for me, I thought, because she had never let me take candy up to my room before. Racing upstairs, I closed the door behind me and sat down. Then I took the biggest bite out of that big piece of candy. Only to get the wax of what was really a candle all over my teeth. I couldn't get it off for days.

When I first learnt how to make drinks, I asked my aunt why she stirred the drink after adding water. She said the act will make the drink sweeter. For a long time, I thought one can make any drink sweet by stirring. And for the same reason, one cannot stir something that is naturally sweet (like orange juice, coke...) or not meant to be sweet (like soup).

When my cousin was three he brought two glasses into the living room and said "Mommy, here's some lemonade for you." Such a thoughtful little boy. They both had to go to the hospital and have their stomachs pumped; he had made the drinks from a toxic cleaning product, believing it to be lemonade mix--and having learned that "it's nice to share." Fortunately both mother and son survived and the young mad chemist was not arrested.
