I've never had Toffifay (also called Toffifee) candy. This is because, when I was little, its commercial jingle was "Toffifay: it's too good for kids!' So I thought I wasn't allowed to buy it... and never did.

I used to believe that the RB button on drink lids meant the drink was for me. My first name starts with R and the nickname for my middle name starts with B. I then realized that it was for root beer.

I'd recently learned that opium was made from poppies. My mom and sister and I were invited over for lunch at a neighbor's house. She served sandwiches on poppy seed rolls. My eyes got really big, because I thought she was trying to turn us all into addicts, and was shocked that she'd do such a thing, and she wasn't even being sneaky about it. I carefully, unobtrusively scraped all the poppy seeds off my roll before eating it.

Up until I was about 15, I thought that the spoons that came with McDonald's Mcflurry's were straws. Needless to say, I was frustrated when, time after time, I couldn't get any ice cream to go up the straw.

I always knew that hamburger was made out of cows, but I was very upset when I found out that the cow actually had to die. Before finding that out, I thought that huge chunks of flesh were scooped off of living cows, and that they survived this procedure. I must have thought the world was full of cows with big chunks scooped out of them... either that or that the missing chunks grow back.

I recently shared this childhood belief with a friend of mine. She thought it was morbid, and I said, "What, more morbid than death?"

My twins sister and I were eating a bag of Cheetos and I started reading that back of the bag out loud. It said something like "Warning. Eating Cheetos can be dangerous..." The bag then proceeded to name off all the warning signs, like the orange fingers. So without reading anymore, we panicked and washed our hands and mouth-- terrified we were going to die or something. I went back to the bag to read the rest of the warnings. Turns out the punchlines at the bottom. I'm not certain, but I'm pretty sure it said something like, "Cheetos are dangerously Delicious."
