My older sister used to trick us a lot. One day she told us she could turn paper into chewing gum. She gave me a little piece of paper to chew. Every now and then, she'd check to see if it was ready, and add a bit of gum to it, till it was mostly all gum. I swallowed it whole. Not the gum, the trick!
I used to believe that my father was more or less omniscient. If I swiped one or two pieces of candy from the fridge, he knew it! Was he counting them or what?! Little did I realize that my 8 siblings were also swiping one or two each, which signficantly lowered the count of the candy in the bag!

When my husband was little, his grandfather used to put a pickle in his bag of dill pickle chips. Everytime he got near the bottom of the bag there was one in it. After his grandfather passed away, he began to think that they didn't make them that way. When he was 18 he mentioned how dill pickle chips used to have pickles in them and that's when he finally found out that he had been tricked as a kid

When I was about five years old, I was in a store with my mother at the checkout aisle. She wanted to buy candy for my sister and I, and picked out a pack of gum that had a picture of a kid with the top of its head exploding. I told her I didn't want it, so she said she would give it to my sister, and I started crying and wouldn't let her give it to her, either. I didn't want my sister's head to explode!
