When I was about 6 years old my family went out to eat at some seafood restaurant. My dad ordered scallops and he told me that they were shark fin. So I always believed him until I was about 12 and in school we were doing a project about sea life and I then learned that scallops are a shellfish. HA! Rescently when we went out to eat, he got scallops again, and my little brother tried one and was like "Waiter, can I have some shark fin?" it was the funniest because he really thought scallops were from shark!

You know those fruit sweets called Gushers?
I saw a commercial about them and in the commercial all these kids heads would turn into fruit. I believe my head would turn into a grape coz my favorite flavour sweet is grape. I still believe and I won't touch them if I ever come across them!

When I was 3 I was still in diapers, and I have a few vague memories of having my diaper changed. One time I had a few little turds in there, and I saw them before my mum threw the diaper away, and I thought that they looked like raisins. After that, I was convinced that raisins were really the same thing as turds, and I was horrified when I saw people eating them, even after my mum told me that they used to be grapes - after all, I ate grapes and produced turds, so for all I knew, that was how the process went. I'm disgusted by raisins still.

When I was a little girl I remember learning that babies were given "formula" to drink from their bottle. I thought I would like to be a Mom some day, but I was worried because I didn't know what the "formula" was. I wasn't sure that I would be good enough at chemistry to make the correct "formula" for my baby. I eventually learned that there was no magic equation for this formula. Maybe that whole misconception is what helped me decide it was best and easiest to nurse my babies!

When I was young I saw a commercial for a sweet called Gushers. They are fruit candies, and on the ad the kids that were eating them, had their heads turned into fruit. I was really scared that I would become a 'Fruit Head', so on Halloween I gave them to my sister coz I hated her and I wanted her to turn into a fruit head! Wow, I was evil.....
I used to think that eggs were actually called 'neggs'. Rational being that it was one was 'a negg'

When we were young, my brother and I convinced our baby brother that a large skillet full of lard was actually chocolate fondue -- he immediately stuck a spoonful in his mouth! It was warm and he couldn't tell right off, but he chased us around the kitchen trying to hit us with the spoon! He was around 5 or 6 years old then.
Months later, I told him that hearts of palm were string cheese and he ate a whole one in milliseconds only to discover the brinish/vinegary taste! To this day he will not eat one. He is almost 19 years old!
i used to think CHAPATI (in Hindi) meant Tea Leaves. I didn't know that CHAPATI is actually the Hindi synonym for The Indian Bread commonly known as ROTI.
I used to believe that orange juice came from the sun because they were the same color. I once spent the better part of a summer afternoon holding a cup up to the sky trying to "squeeze" a glass of OJ

I used to believe that since only adults were allowed to drink wine and other alcohol that it must the most delicious thing in the world. When I had my First Communion at age 7 I was excited that I would get to take a sip of wine. When I drank it, I froze in horror. It was the most disgusting thing I had ever tasted. I wanted to spit it out, but I knew I couldn't do that in church. After that I was very wary about foods that adults loved.
I remember noticing that salt is often labelled Table Salt, and pepper Ground White Pepper or Ground Black Pepper. I thought that meant you were supposed to keep the salt on the table and the pepper on the ground.

In kindergarden used to believe that if I drank milk, I would grow facial hair ["milk mustache."] But for some reason I didn't think this applied to chocolate milk, so for about 2 years I would only drink chocolate milk.

During the grade school I was convinced that alcoholic drinks had to be used every time you made a party. So the morning of my birthday I brought at school a little plastic bottle full of Red Martini!! I offered martini to all my classmates...obviously my teacher spoke with my mother: i fellt like a criminal for so many years!
No Martini, no party! I took this slogan ... litterally! ;-)

When I was fairly young, I got it into my head that pepperoni was some kind of vegetable. I think I read somewhere that vegetarians kids liked pizza, which of course to an eight year old means pepperoni. I asked my mom about it, and she, being funny, said, "Sure pepperoni grows on trees." I believed her (still not quite sure how I ended up being considered "gifted") I am ashamed to say I was probably about 12 or 13 before I figured it out.
