I used to honestly think that Smarties were medicine.

i remember thinking that scrambled eggs were actually baby chicks that had been chopped up and stirred to be scrambled eggs (they were the same color!). I couldn't figure out how chickens could sometimes hatch eggs that were food, and sometimes hatch eggs that were chicks.

My friend used to believe that eating smarties would make you smarter and one day she was eating them at school and since we weren't allowed to eat candy in school the teacher told her to stop eating them. She replied "But they make me smart"

I was told that eating raw sugar would give me pinworms. Ugh. What a gross thought...

Everytime I had a stomach I ache I thought I was dieing of rat poisoning. My dad had stored a candy baron top of our fridge. It had been there a week and so my little candy-staved brain assumed he forgot about it. I ate it. A week later my dad appeared to be in a panic and said that someone had eaten the candy bar he had posioned for the rats to eat. He was hoping to "out" the thief, but I was to afraid to tell him I ate it. I was convinced for years that I was going to die from eating that candy bar.

And I never stole candy again.

When I was a boy we had an old jar of cinnamon sugar Mom put out on the table whenever we had French toast for breakfast. I thought the jar had just lasted forever, so old the label was faded and peeling off, but I was seven or eight before I discovered that my mother regularly refilled it with cinnamon and sugar she mixed herself.

When i was little i was actually led to believe bottles of lemonade grew on trees. My neighbour pointed out a plant in his garden and over a period of atleast a year explained lemonade was growing there, till one day when he placed a bottle under the tree. To my delight i found the bottle and ran back to my mum screaming with delight that the lemonade tree had grown me a bottle of lemonade, To this day its the neighbourhood joke that is brought up every summer bbq :(

When you go to the store, you know how to check to see if fruits and vegetables are ripe. Well, my brother (I know, it's not about me) used to believe that an egg, if left on a shelf long enough, could eventually hatch into a chicken. It was not until much later in his life, actually, that he discovered that store-bought eggs could not hatch because they were un-fertilized. All that time, he was afraid he might actually see a beak when cracking an egg open.

i thought ground beef in the meat market was nothing but a pile of worms

I loved baloney sandwiches. I ate them all of the time. One day at my grandmothers house, I asked her to make me one. I guess my older brother was feeling devious that day, so he whispered "Baloney comes from the skin of dead people. You know grandpa is dead, where do you think she's getting that baloney?"

I freaked out and ran from the sandwich when she brought it out.

When I learned that raisins were dried up grapes, I thought that I could reverse the process, so I put a raisin in a cup of water and waited for it to grow back into a grape.

I used to think that sno-cones were made of snow, so my friends and I would "make" our own by scooping snow off the street and eating it (and the worst part is, it was New York City snow... not exactly the best snow for eating).

When I was young I believed, for some strange reason, that only apples my mom ate turned brown. I thought she had something in her mouth that turned them brown. One year we left out some fruit for Santa and in the morning the half-eaten apple was, of course, brown. I was convinced my mom was playing Santa. She somehow convinced me that she had only eaten the apple after Santa didn't want it.:O)
