When at the Fair one time, my husband asked our daughter, age five, if she would like an elephant ear. (A large fried pastry, sprinkled with sugar and cinnamon). She was quite upset about the idea of eating an elephant's ear and now at age 21 still isn't crazy about them.

I used to beleive that if i was eating cheerios or any other kind of cereal that I couldn't leave just one floating in the milk. If there were two or three left I had to scoop them all into my spoon, i thought the last cheerio would be lonely going into my stomach all by himself. To this day, that is still how I eat my cereal (I'm 22)

When I was about 12ish, I was looking at the tapioca pudding in the grocery store and I asked my mother what the little round beads were. She seriously replied 'fish eyes.' I had never had tapioca pudding, and even though I knew she was kidding, I can't bear to try it. I'm 26.

My parents used to tell my siblings and I that we had the "same germs" because we are related. I was a teenager before I realized that they just wanted us to share our food.

My favorite food when I was little was grilled cheese sandwiches 'cause I thought they were called 'Girl Cheese Sandwiches' and only girls could eat them.

I had a co-worker who had a very young son. She, her husband, daughter and son had gone out to dinner one night.

The waiter asked everyone what type of dressing they wanted on their salads.

They all said they wanted the "House" dressing.

When the salads came to the table, her son was disgusted.

He said "This is not the kind of dressing we have at the house"!

When I was 7, my mom's friend asked me if I had a sweet tooth. I told her to "wiat a minute, let me check". Then I proceeded to "taste" each of my teeth. There must have been a piece of watermelon candy stuck in a back molar because I said "yep, and it tastes like watermelon".

For the first part of my life (from childhood till age 25 or so) I never liked fruit, I found it was alwasy tasteless and hard.

What I found out after I got married was that my Mom would only buy the most unrippened fruit available and she would throw it out before it even got ripe.

I did not know how delisious ripe fruit was until I got married and tried some fruit my wife was eating.

I used to believe…

When I was very young, my parents started teaching me to share.

When it was meal time, one of them would always ask "Would you share a bit of your food with me"?

I would happily share a bite, and they would say
"That was the best bite"!

That made me so angry, because I thought they literally meant, that I gave them the best bite of food off of my plate! If it was my food, I wanted the best bite!

I honestly believed untill I was 13ish that if you swallowed a watermelon seed it would plant its self into your stomache, grow into a huge melon and make you explode. -and there was nothing any doctor could do about it.

after the kids in the gusher's commercials ate a gusher, their heads would turn into giant fruits. I thought that if i ate one my head would turn into a fruit. I tried it one time and ran into the bathroom to see if it had changed. It didn't :(

When I was young I thought that drinking milk made you grow a moustache. This is because my dad mentioned my 'moustache' when I had milk round my mouth when I was little. It didn't stop me drinking milk though, in fact I still have a glass every night before bed. I am female and nearly 30, so I'd better watch out for that moustache thing.

I used to believe…

When I was little my mum told me I didn't like sugar, so that I wouldn't eat sugary things so much. So every time I would ask for sugary cerials she would say "No you wouldn't like that" and I would reply "You're right! Sugar is GROSS!"
Well a few years later I came up to my mom, and I looked really guilty, I told her "Mum, I have to tell you something.... You are wrong. I really DO like sugar"

I thought that if you swallowed a pip from a fruit, a fruit tree would grow inside you. One day I did swallow an orange seed, and had a miserable time thinking this was the end of everything. I suppose in time I just forgot about it.
