I used to believe…

When I was in kindergarten I would eat nothing but hotdogs for lunch at school. As many of us know, they aren't exactly the healthiest meal, so my dad tried to convince me not to eat them by telling me they were made of worms. After that I despised the taste of hotdogs, and although I now know that they aren't actually made of worms, I still haven't aten a hotdog since kindergarten.

I used to think that beverage was a word for alcholic drinks. I woudn't go to the beverage section of a gas station, because all those drinks were bad. I also thought that ginger ale was alcholoic, and almost had a fit when my grandmother offered me some.

i sometimes look at the ingredients of things when im bored. one day when i was young i was reading the ingredients of Smarties. one ingredient said 'carnouba wax' or something. i thought it was wax that was used to wax cars! so i never ate them til i figured out that it was just the stuff that makes a shiny cover around each smartie

when I was little i used to believe that there were two kinds of mushrums good and bad i got this idea from my sister who played the mario games (thats where it came from) so i believed that if you ate bad mushrums you would shrink and if you ate good mushrums you would grow this was an observation i made when i saw my grampa eating darker mushrums (bad) and my mom always said he was shrinking then my dad ate white ones (good) and he was big and strong so it made sense but thats not it you see whenever we had some dish with mushrums and they were dark I was horribly scared that if i ate them i would shrink and I thought when i wasn't looking at them they would come closer to me and follow me and try to get in my mouth!!! so i would always offer mine to my sister and try to trick her into eating them and i would never leave the table this belief was proven wrong when i was at a party and they ordered pizza and i made the dumb suggestion to take the mushrums off because you shrink when you eat them and i did everything i could to try and prove it i got everyone to turn around then quickly look to see if the mushrums had moved this was at the age of 12 LOL They made fun of me ever since.

When i was about nine, i used to go around my best friend's house nearly everyday. Occasionally her dad would drink alcohol, but her mum always told him off because they had a 'young guest' (me). Consequently, he would hide his liquor in old Detox bottles, and my friend and i would sometimes see him drinking from them. For several years after that, i believed that bleach was a refreshing drink- thank god i never tried it!

I didn't believe that a cow's milk and the milk in the fridge were at all related!

My mom used to make stir fry a lot and always used a large amount of green peppers. My sister told me that if i didn't eat every pepper the ones in my stomach would turn to snakes. It made sense at the time and I still have a hard time leaving any green peppers uneaten.

when i was little, i didn't think that anything mattered in cooking except that the mix/batter/dough be the same color/texture as what you were planning on making. My mom had had a really long day and mentioned something about having to make dinner and dessert. I decided (at 7) that i would save her some work and make a cake for dessert. I took a big plastic rubbermaid container and started to fill it with flour, cocoa, chocolate syrup, mustard, baking soda, eggs, coffee, bread, jam, and anything else i could get my hands on. I mixed the whole thing up, put it in the microwave, and four minutes later....BOOM!....it exploded. Needless to say, I did not lessen my mom's workload that night. To this day i'm still finding pieces of my "cake" on the vents inside my microwave.
