I used to think Timbits (mini doughnuts from Tim Hortons) came from the center of doughnuts, and that was why doughnuts have holes in the middle.

When i was little, i was convinced pepperoni came from horses.

Lol...well...all the other farm animals had meat...ham and bacon and pork was with pigs, beef and steak was with cows, chicken was with chicken..so naturally being a child I just assumed that they killed horses for pepperoni.

When I was a toddler, my dad told me that I would have to sit down to drink my juice. Up until I was about 5, I thought that the real name for apple juice was "sit-down juice".

My mom and sister told me once that if I ate too much salt or pepper I would die young...I have no Idea why it made so much sense to me!

My mother once told me that it's really bad to eat apples without washing them first. It was this small, innocent fact that lead me to believe that all unwashed apples were...POISON (Gasps, scary music, lightning plays here). Anyway, one day, I had a friend over, and she was eating an apple (unfortunately, an unwashed one of coarse)And she was about to bite it when I said, "No!! Don't eat it!!" It was so embarrasing...

Up until someone explained what alchohol did to you, and that it is called "drinking", I never understood what people had against "drinking" in certian situations, like in the car.

I remember saying to some adult friend of my Grandfather's: "why can't you drink in your car? Grandpa lets me drink in the car all the time?" He laughed out loud... Of course I was talking about pop or juice, but I can see now how this would have been a funny statement.

I used to believe that pickles grew on trees. I also did not used to know that gherkins and pickles were the same thing and I thought gherkins were like gremlins.

Once, when I was very young, I used to think that all poison was green and smelled putrid, like sewage, and that if you ate anything green, you would die. I was very afraid of anything green until my mother told me otherwise.

As a child I was a huge fan of Soreen Malt Loaf. My Mum told me that if I had more than three buttered slices I would get a very bad stomach ache.

I only discovered the truth five years ago, and I'm thirty now! My Mum was just trying to stop me from eating the whole loaf in one go.

Not really my own, but I witnessed it first hand. :-)

I was in the produce section at the grocery store and I overheard this family (Mom, Dad, son - about 10 or 11, and daughter about 6). The mom told the little girl to put something down and when I looked up, the little boy was eyeing the eggplant his sister was holding. He asked his mom what it was and she casually replied "It's an eggplant." The boy got this REALLY confused look on his face and then asked his mom "It makes eggs?!?" I just smirked at the mom (and she at me) when she saw me listening to the conversation.

My Mother used to drink coffee all the time. In the winter she said it warmed her, which I could understand. In the summer she said it cooled her, which she explained to me was caused because by putting hot liquid in her, it caused her body to go into "cool down" mode to conteract it.

In the late 70s, there was an AA (Alcoholics Annonymous) commercial that featured a man in various social settings, constantly reaching for a drink. It was accompanied by his voice-over saying "What a great time for a drink". The commerical ended with something to the affect of "Do you have a drinking problem? If so, please get help immediately."

Unfortunately for me, I used to get thirsty very easily as a kid, so I was constantly drinking water, milk, juice, etc. I never knew I had a drinking problem until I saw that commercial, and was so ashamed every time it came on!

My grandmother would always tell me to eat the crust of my sandwiches because "It'll make your hair blonder" or "It'll make your eyes blue-er". It was not until a few years ago, I realized that every time she told me to eat my crust that the reasons changed.
