My dad loves to eat butter on saltine crackers. The more butter the better. When I was little I always wanted to do what dad was doing. To keep me from indulging in his bad habit snack he told me that butter hurt your teeth and promptly stuck out his dentures. "See." He said. "That's why I had to have all my teeth pulled." My mother didn't know that my dad had told me this and tried to offer me a piece of buttered toast soon after. I shook my head and refused to eat the toast because it had butter on it and explained "butter hurts my teeth." I'm not sure how long I believed this, but I'm 28 years old now and still get teased about it.

I didn't beleive him until my older cousin came up to me with a glass of coke that had a big black fly swimming in it. After that, I had completly stopped drinking the soda for 2 or 3 years. A couple of years later,I found out my dad was lying and that fly my cousin had showed me had flew in the coke on its own and then died.

When I was little, my older sister would tell my twin sister and I that when people made hotdogs, they just took a meat grinder, put it in an alley and took the remains of all dead animals and stuffed them in. She also said that rats and raccoons would come down the alley way and crawl into the blenders and the hotdog making people would leave them in. She doesn't remember telling us, but I think she was just trying to get us to stop eating meat because she's a vegetarian herself. We still ate hotdogs after she told us though...

When I was little, I used to believe that salt could absorb water (because eating salt always made me thirsty I suppose). So, I decided to do a little experiment. I took a plastic cup and filled it with water and salt. I left it in one of my desk drawers that I didn't use and forgot about it for years! When I moved, I found it and, alas, the water was not gone. To this day, if you open that drawer, you will smell salt!
