When I was little, I was convinced you could bend a cracker. If you were quick enough, it would bend into a little V-shape. Of course, this only resulted in smashed crackers all over the living room floor.

i used to believe that gooseberries had teeth and that i had been bitten by one.

i was send to pick them in our garden when i was about 5 and looking back now i realise i must have been pricked by a thorn. i ran to the house to tell my mother what her agressive gooseberries had done to me and she declared that there was no way the gooseberry could have bitten me, because they don't have teeth.

i was sent back to the fruit beds to carry on picking but told to be careful of the thorns. i spent the rest of the afternoon in a fit of angry and and indignant rage, not because my finger had been pricked, but because my mother had so unjustly disbelieved that the gooseberry had bitten me.

I was 7 and was staying with my aunt in the country. She grew some vegetables there - cucumbers, pea. Once my uncle brought a watermelon from the market and put it among the cucumbers in the garden. I woke up in the morning and was really surprised to discover that a watermelon had grown in our garden overnight. but lol, I used to believe that up to the age of 12 or so, until my mother put me straight.

When I was little, my mom told me *she had been married to him for a very long time at this point, and could tease him a bit* that the reason my father had become blind was because he didn't eat his carrots. This scared the dickens out of me, and from that point on, I ate all the carrots left out, which turned out to sometimes be 3 or 4 whole carrots...!
As it turns out, my father has retina pigmentosus *sp?* and started losing his vision in highschool.

A grown-up once told me when I was eating watermelon to never swallow the seeds or they would grow in my belly. The grown-up then pointed out a pregnant woman and said she had swallowed a watermelon seed. I was VERY careful everytime I ate watermelon that I didn't swallow a single seed!

I always though that chicken fried steak was chicken, fried like steak. I thought is was so nasty that there was brown chicken, so I wouldn't eat it-until I was 15 and my mom told me it was steak, fried like chicken...now I'm a chicken fried steak fiend!

When I was in kindergarten, I brought some chewing gum in one day and proceeded to chew it (not knowing the rule). The teacher noticed me and told me to go put it on the trashcan over by the sink.

When I went over there, the teacher's assistant was cleaning some small surgical scissors, tweezers and a knife. I got scared and cried because I thought she'd cut little chunks of gum out of my mouth and slice bits of my tongue off.

As it turned out, she used the tools to demonstrate something later on in class, but I steered clear of gum in school all year, just to be safe.

I used to believe that if a can of tuna had the words "Dolphin Safe" on the label, it meant there were no chunks of dolphin in the tuna.

My grandpa used to tell me that if I swallowed a watermelon seed that it would sprout and grow in my stomach. I used to imagine this happening and the vines of the watermelon growing out my ears.

When I was little my mom used to tell me to eat my crusts because they were the “best part” and “good for you.” By this I thought she meant that the crusts actually had more vitamins and nutrients than the rest of the bread. I didn’t care though; I still wouldn't eat my crusts.

It was this one time i was over at my neighbor, who was eight years younger than me, he was at that time five... I had this bad habbit of sucking on unriped cherries. He asked me why I was sucking on it. I told him it tasted as coke. He ran over to the tree to have one as well. But quickly realized it didn't taste as coke, and was really upset. Then I told him that it was only the ones in the top of the tree that tasted like coke. He started climing the tree, and every once in a while stopped to cheek to see if the unriped cherries at where he was tasted like coke. When he'd reached pretty high, I told him that I'd only joked with him, but he wouldn't believe me. He kept on climbing all the way to the top...

i was sitting with grandma one scortching hot day, she had a glass of ice water. she told me the condensation on the outside of the glass was water seeping through the glass. i believed this one until about a year ago. teehee

Actually my cousin, and the story is more or less like this. When he was a little kid, he sometimes was on holidays on a little cottage my family rented far out on the countryside. The owners of the place had cows, and we bought milk from them. The problem was that my cousin protested against this, because drinking milk from animals was quite disguisting. He would rather have milk that came from the shop...

when i was about 5 my teenage cousin saw me looking at his glass of pepsi. he told me the bubbles were from little tiny fish swimming around in the soda, i believed that one for years...

My mom told me that a glass of water has gone bad when you can se bubbles in it. To this day, I have big problems with drinking bubbly water, even if I'm very thirsty and there's no fresh water in sight.

When I was small my dad would tell us that eating meat would put hair on my chest. Thinking thats what I really wanted, I would be very proud at having finished my meat at dinner. Needless to say I never realized that having hair on your chest is the last thing a woman wants.

It is well known that tarantulas live in the end of bananas. When you open up the banana you have to discard the first 1/2 inch and the last half inch for obvious reasons of safety and non-ingestion of tarantulas

I used to believe that drinking ordinary coffee would make you short. I once asked my Mon if I could taste her coffee. She asked me if I wanted to grow up big and tall. I nodded my agreement with her. She told me to look at her-she is very short only 5' tall-she drank lots of coffee. "Coffee stunts your growth, just look at me!" I wanted to be tall so I wouldn't go near coffee until I was over eighteen years old even though I had long since realized that drinking coffee does not stunt one's growth. To this day, I still will not drink coffee-incidentally I grew up to be 5'4" tall-no coffee drinking involved here. I think this was Mom's devious way of being immortal because I think of her and chuckle everytime some asks me if I want cup of coffee.

when i was really little, i saw a cup of sugar in the kitchen, and for some reason, i thought my parents were trying to make milk. so i poured a bunch of water into it, and my parents got really mad at me.
