I used to believe…

When I was about 7 my friend's older sister told us that the inside part of a carrot was poisonous and if we ate it, we would die. I didn't believe her, but she said it was okay to eat if you ate it VERY slowly. After that I would nibble the outside part of the carrot and eat the inside part separately, very slowly, just in case.

I was told that if you fell asleep with gum in your mouth you'd wake up with gum in your hair. That much makes sense. But I thought it was because the gum would absorb through your head and come out through your scalp into your hair.

When I was little, I believed that drinking Gatorade would make me stronger like the people in the commercials I saw. One day I took a drink, flexed my arm and was very thrilled to realize I had made my "first muscle." My older cousin tried to tell me that my body was filled with muscles but I was convinced she was jealous that she wouldn't be the strongest anymore and told her not to ruin it for me.

My mum told me that black fruit pastilles or really any black jelly sweet were deadly to children and that I should give her them if I found them in my packet. It was many years before I found out that in fact they are her favourite so she told me that to get them all.

When I was 5 I thought 'in a nutshell' meant that you are actually going in a nutshell. Like pistachios and such. Pretty silly.

When was a kidd there was this one episode of a tv show where these characters were touring a cornflake factory. At one point the tour guide said they would learn about how much blood, sweat and tears went into cornflakes. Of course, being a kid I thought those were actual ingredients in the cornflakes and wondered who would want to eat that?

When I was about 6 we went to a chinese restaurant and my dad bought a packet of those white rabbit toffees so in the car I asked him what the toffees were made of and he said little white rabbits from that day on you would never see me eat one ever until he told me the truth

When I was little, I used to have a weird habit of opening and closing the fridge all the time when I was bored, and my mom got mad at me for doing this. She told me that if you open the fridge way too many times, then the butter would get mad and turn into a monster and eat me.
