My brother told me that you could tell how fat someone was by how dark their chocolate milk was...so I thought if I added less syrup to the milk, I'd lose weight.
When I was about 3, my Dad convinced me I didn't like Peanut Butter & Jelly sandwiches...only Jelly & Peanut Butter. So, when my mom would make me a PB&J I would cry until she made me a J&PB instead. Of course, she just went into the kitchen and flipped it over!
Thanks to the imagination of my mom & dad, I used to believe that eating green beans would put hair on your chest; that if you sat too close to the fan your face would become paralyzed; that if you sat too close to the TV you would go blind and that if you walked on your tippy toes you would be prescribed cement shoes to wear so that you would stop!
My mom used to make grilled cheese sandwiches with Velveeta, and when I was young, there was a girl on the Velveeta box. For many years I thought they were "girl cheese sandwiches".
When McDonalds began selling McFlurries I thought they were named after Calgary Flames player Theron Fleury, and I wondered what they were called in other cities.
When I was about 5 years old I one day asked my mother where my father and grandfather had gone to. She said they were out getting mushrooms. I thought OH BOY..WHAT FUN! a mushy room to jump around and play in. How disappointed I was when they returned home with a large bag of these yellow plants (morel mushrooms).

I remember in pre-school announcing that I knew where jelly came from. I said Jelly-fish. The teacher kindly corrected me.
When I was about six years old, I saw an advertisment on TV for those cream-filled chocolate eggs. There was a rabbit on-sreen bawking like a chicken, and a real-live chicken making no noise. I was scared to eat one because I knew rabbits did not make that sound. I was convinced that if I ate one of the candy eggs, that I would start to make that chicken sound uncontrollably, and never be able to comunicate with my friends again in words. For years when Easter rolled around, I would give all my eggs to my cousin. Why his English wasn't translated to bawking I never knew.
My mother always told my brother and I that eating the crust of bread would make our hair curly. Still waiting for that one....
My father hated chewing gum so he told me that chewing gum was made of cat's gut. I had always assumed that it was tru and didn't realize that it wasn't until I was in my 20's (and I still can't chew gum)
When I was young I formulated that because medicine tasted gross, that delicious foods were obviously bad for you. At my 9th birthday I refused to eat any cake so that I wouldn't be made too sick to go to Chuckiee Cheeze's.
When I was younger, I thought that Broccoli came from moss on a rock. I learned that this wasn't true when I tried to eat the moss . . . For the record it doesn't taste anything like broccoli.
I used to believe…
That chocolate milk came from a chocolate cow
I used to talk to my Mrs. Butterworth's syrup bottle at every breakfast and wondered why she wouldn't talk back to me like it did on TV.
When I was little I would always complain that my food was to hot. To stop my my dad told me that if something was hot to put salt on it. This would call it off so I can eat it. I don't use much salt anymore, I think I got enough as a kid

I used to believe that vanilla wasn't a flavor. It just didn't have chocolate in it!
When I was a kid, my dad told me that Dr. Pepper was really nasty and it would make me sick, for some reason. I guess he just didn't like it when he was a kid, so he assumed I wouldn't either, but for YEARS, I wouldn't go near the stuff, because I'd never tried it, but I just somehow *knew* that it was nasty, lol. Now it's like, my favourite pop ever, and I drink it all the time. You know, the diet kind actually tastes *almost* as good as the regular?

I used to believe, thanks to my older sister Lorraine, that if we swallowed watermelon seeds, we would grow one in our bellies!!

I used to think that the Cadbury eggs, that come out at Easter, were filled with real egg yolk.
