I used to believe that if you chewed gum while going to the bathroom then you'd swallow it and poop it out right then.

when i was little i never ever liked or ate bread crusts. my grandmother, in the hopes of getting me to eat it, told me it would make your hair curly. after that i never went near bread crusts for a while. now i eat them, and my hair is just fine

I used to order "girl cheese sandwiches" from the local restaurant. It seemed right because they were pretty small, made for little girls like me. I was a bit disappointed to find out they were actually "grilled cheese sandwiches".

I used to believe that potatoes were made out of bread AND bread was made out of potatoes. I'm not sure how this worked... something along the lines of people digging up potatoes to make them into bread which would be made into potatoes and buried again!

When i was young, we would visit my grandparents in west texas. My gr-pa would buy tamales off the back of a truck from a mexican woman. He would tell me they were "cat tamales" and if i looked in the back of her truck i would see the cat heads rolling around. He would make a "meow" sound when someone bit into one of the tamales. (of course later, my grandfather and grandmother told me that was a joke and in fact the lady made some of the best tamales in town) lol

When I was young, I thought that rubbing alcohol was the same thing as regular, drinking alcohol. So when I saw in the liquor store with my dad that a bottle of wine was so expensive I turned to him and said " Dad, why don't you just buy the kind at the drug store?"

i used to believe that all the water i the world came from watermelons, i asked my mom how many watermelons it took to make the oceans. she thought i was crazy

My dad used to tell me that chocolate milk came from brown cows. I believed him until I was about 13 (HA!!!) ... and suddenly realised as I was staring down a gallon of white milk that he had lied to me for so long! I still find it heartwarming..... somehow..... :D

I used to believe that ice cream cam from ice and lotion, because my mom called lotion 'cream'. If ice is edible, lotion is too, eight?

When I visited my grandparents on their farm, I was shown the hen coop and realised that chickens laid eggs. I saw the pigs in their sty, and believed for YEARS that they "laid" sausages in the same way ...

this is one I overheard in school. I don't remember if it was in high school or grade school. The teacher was talking to someone and told them that he knew this kid that thought cheerio's were donet seeds!

When I was five, a neighbor girl told me that if I ate the crust of bread, then my hair would get curly. So, I ate all the crusts, because I wanted to have curly hair!

I didn't know what stupid meant. When I heard the word stupid, I would picture a soda can. When I wanted soda I would say "Can I have soda in a stupid please?" (Can I have soda in a can is what I meant) Don't ask!!!

— LOL how silly!!!!food : drinks

My dad used to tell me that sugar only worked in drinks if you stirred it clockwise. If you wanted to switch it off you just stirred it the other way
I believed this until about 11 years old

When I was 8 this mean girl in my school told me that her dog ate a piece of gum and it pooped out all it's organs because it stuck them all together. I believed her because she was a grade or two older than me. Soon after I was chewing gum and it fell out of my mouth and my dog ate before I could get to it. I cried for like an hour. Even after my parent's told me it wasn't true, I followed my dog around for a while waiting for him to go.

When I was about five, my sister had a can of Mountain Dew. I tried to sneak a drink, and when she caught me, she told me that it had pieces of lasagna in it. As a kid, I hated lasagna and from that day on, I never drank Mountain Dew again. I was well into my young teen years before realizing Mountain Dew was not actually made from lasagna (and still don't drink it to this day, thirty years later)!

When I was younger, my parents told me that if I didn't finish all my rice, my wife will grow dimples all over her face... one for each bit rice I didn't eat. I believed it for a little while after that, but then logic set in.

I’m pretty well in “balancing” myself. When I was small, I will eat lots of salt if my sweets (sugar) intake is too much. Coz I used to treat salt and sugar are opposites. Till now, it wont be shock for my mum if she saw me eating fruits with lots of salt, but she wouldn’t know, acctually salt is my main dish, fruits are just the companion. Haha………
