My father always use to put crushed red pepper on almost everything he ate. As a kid, I assumed that since "pepper" made your food hot, salt must make your food cold (sincd salt is obviously the opposite of pepper!).
When I was little, my dad used to pack Mentos Candy in his brief case. I would often ask for one, and I guess he didn't want to share, because he todl me they were medicine. So I thought for years that mentos were some kind of medicine. Once, my grandmother offered me a few Mentos from her purse, and she couldn't figure out why I thought they were medicine.

When I was little my grandfather told me that if I ate before grace was said the food in my stomach would turn to coal.
When my mum used to make jelly from cubes (you know where u broke the cubes and added hot water so it went all liquidy before putting it into a bowl to set) i used to like drink the liquid jelly. She old me that the jelly would set in my stomach and that it would stay that way and i would wobble when i walked. For ages afterwards i walked very slowly and deliberately so no one would notice my 'wobble'

When i was really young i used to loooove ice cream so much that once we had run out i had gotten the chocolate sandwhich spread 'nutella' and ate that in a bowl as a substitute for icecream and when my mother saw the chocolate in the bowl she would always ask when had we bought icecream? lol. i never told her because i didn't want everyone eating my chocolate 'icecream'
