You know how the wrappers of tootsie pops have pictures on them? One of the pictures is of an Indian shooting a star with his bow and arrow, but it isn't printed on all of them, only about half. When I was little, an older kid in the neighborhood told us that if you found a wrapper with that picture, you could turn it in to a store and they would give you a free plane trip to Hawaii. I totally believed her! I sort of imagined that the cashiers at convenience stores had tickets to Hawaii in their cash registers, just waiting for some little kid to come in with a wrapper. There was a store that sold tootsie pops down the street from our house, and we went in to show the employees our candy wrappers, hoping to get a free vacation. They were rather amused.

when my mom used to tell me someone had a sweet tooth, i thought it was like an actual tooth in the back of your mouth, and only certain people were born with that extra tooth. I was jealous of people with "sweet tooths" because I wanted an extra tooth in my mouth too.
when i was a little kid, my parents told me that how ever many grain of rice i left on my plate, it would appear on my face. so, when i saw people with pimples on their face, i thought it was because they left rice on their plate.
when i was little, i accidently swallowed an orange seed, and i thought an orange tree would grow in my stomach. i thought i couldn't eat anything after that because the food i swallow would plant the seed down, and the drink would water the seed, making the orange tree grow.
I used to believe that if you ate those watermellon looking seeds on a sausage pizza that it would grow and get very large, I guess that is why I like the pepperoni and the cheese better.
When I was younger I used to believe that whenever I would drink Kool-aid that huge Kool-aid "ohh, yeahh!" guy would jump through my wall. So I never drank the stuff.
Once when I was younger I thought that a mistake was some kind of meat like a porterhouse or a t- bone, so when my parents would say that they made a mistake I thought dinner would be ready soon.

When I was in grade school, the latest craze in candy was Pop Rocks, a candy that fizzed and popped when you put it in your mouth. I was always told that if you ate Pop Rocks and drank soda that your stomach would explode. This comment was always preceded by "I head about this kid who...." One time I ate Pop Rocks and a minute later had a drink of Pepsi, only realizing after what I had done. For weeks I thought the food was just falling down inside me instead of going in my stomach. I kept waiting for the pain to start. :)
I used to call Nerds "Turds". I used to have a friend and her parents always kept boxes of Nerds. And everyday I'd ask "Can I have a turd?"
That must've been a sight to see.
