When I was 5 or 6, there was a big outdoor get-together at my church. One of the events was a cow patty throwing contest. I thought that the cow patties looked like frisbees made out of dirt and I didn't have any qualms about throwing one. My mom asked me if I knew what a cow patty was, and I didn't. She explained to me that they "cow patty" meant cow poop, but somehow, I didn't care and threw one anyway. (Didn't go very far, as I recall...)
The next day, I was watching TV, I was horrified to see that Chick-Fil-A was serving chicken patty sandwiches... how gross! Who'd want to eat that?
My mom set me straight once she finished laughing...

i used 2 believe that if i swallowed my orange seeds, a tree would grow from my tummy...i was so terrified 'bout that!!
Not my belief, but I caused it.
I work at an after school care centre. There is a water cooler in the room, which is available to children, staff and other adults to use whenever they want. It's a standard model with a little container under the taps to catch any water. It needs to be emptied every now and again.
One child was pushing the lever on the tap, just to fill up the container, so I told him that if the container gets too full and overflows, it gets into the electronics of the dispenser. Because we were in an old building, the electrical system wasn't that great, and the water would go from the cooler to the circuits, knocking out the power to the whole building.
The child backed away immediately! I can't believe I made it up on the spot.
A friend managed to convince me that the layer of browngoo that form on top when you let hot chokolate cool caused cancer..
I carefully removed this for many years befor it hit me that it couldn't be true..
I beleived that the little pez dispensers had to cook the pez before you could eat them, thats why you had to put them in the dispenser in the first place, little did i know that it was just for holding the candy!!
As a child, I always hated bananas. One day when I had just began primary, my mom told me "Have a banana with breakfast, Dear, it'll give you fiber,"
That day we went on a field trip to where they made paper. We learned how to make it and how to make our own. We learned about the GRAIN of the paper and it's FIBERS.
From then until I was seven, I ate as much paper as I could while no one was looking.
I used to think that the little black bit going through the inside of a banana was a spider's leg. However, I didn't know it went through the whole banana, so when I saw a tiny little bit of that black hairy stuff, I often freaked out. I didn't know how the single spider leg got into the banana, but it had to be alive!
I still don't eat the very last bit of the banana with the spider's leg in it.
You know those tops to drinks from fast food restaurants, that have little things you can pop in that say things like "Diet" or "Root Beer"? I thought that if you pushed in the little button and threw the top all the way to the restaurant, they would give you a free one. I never was successful.
I was an insanely picky eater growing up, and would refuse to eat any form of cow or pig. My dad convinced my mother to give me pork without my knowledge and call it "chicken" instead. I would eat it and complain about how yucky it tasted and how my mother made it wrong, eventually just refusing to eat. They did this up until I was 8.
"Chicken-roast" they called it...
I use to thing that if you keept egges in the refridgerator for too long and then you cracked them, little baby chickens would come out.

This one time we were camping, and it was windy outside because there was a storm, and my mom told me that there were tomatos under the trailor jumping up and down shaking the trailor... i believed her and though the tomatos were going to hurt me.. (havent ate tomatos since)
At the age of four (the best year of my life), my dad and I went to McDonalds and I ordered a hamburger. Instead of eating it like I should've, I was picking the sesame seeds off of the bun. Dad finally asked what I was doing. I simply answered: "I'm gonna grow a hamburger tree!"

When I was younger, my dad gave me some barbeque chips and said "there hot so dont eat alot of them!". I took one of them and i ate it and then I said "Wow that is hot!". Then I walked over to the fridge and put them in the freezer. When my dad asked what I was doing I told they were to hot so I was cooling them off...
when I was a kid, my mother made me eat prunes, spinach, and even mushy carrots! I once tried, unsuccesfully, tried to hide all my food in my glass of milk. It was disgusting because it floated and made my milk taste horrible!
when i was younger i hated refried beans because once i asked my mom why they were called REFRIED beans and for fun she told me that "the poor people in africa got paid 5 cents an hour to chew uop fried beans and spit them into ap pan so they can be refried" and i was so repulsed i didn't eat them again until i was 14.
