Until the age of 19, I believed that when you ate meat, that it wasn't the muscle of an animal. Take for instance, a breast of chicken. I was under the impression that there was a special material, called "meat" that was left after they took the breast muscle out of the chicken. Same goes for ribs, loins, etc. A Ham was not the heinie of a pig, but yet the "meat" that was left over after removing the heinie and scraping off the muscle/tissue, etc. My girlfriend at the time, a daughter of a farmer (just my luck) was absolutely dumbfounded by my theory. She corrected my error of 19 years..then said, "Don't ever...ever say that in front of my family....ever."

I used to believe if I ate chocolate ice cream, I'd get darker, and if I ate vanilla, I'd get lighter. I was scared of eating vanilla, cause I was convinced it would set me back in my quest to be darker. I only recently acquired a taste for vanilla ice cream.

I used to believe that brown cows gave chocolate milk, and that white cows gave white milk.
When I was about 5, I had a packet of Skittles and my sister whose name begins with an 'S' told me that you were only allowed to eat the sweets with your initial on. So she went through the whole packet and ate every single sweet...I only realised later that every Skittle has an S on it.
I thought that the reason I shouldn't take candy from strangers was that it was poisonous. My sister-in-law thought it was because it had drugs in it. We were both in our 30's when we compared notes.
i used to think that stepping on a banana peel could make you do a backflip. i absolutely HATED bananas, but i would open one, eat one bite, and hide the rest somewhere around the house. then, i would put the banana peel down on the floor (carpet, take a running start, and jump on the peel. it never worked, and i always ended up grinding slimy banana peel into the carpet. i never gave up, though.
I used to swallow my gum so one day my dad told me that when I swallow it, it would get stuck with all the other gum and form into a ball and stick to my organs and then the docors would have to surgically remove it. I still swallowed my gum anyway.. and still do!
When I was little, I used to believe that if you planted skittles in the ground they really would make a rainbow and it would rain skittles. Well one day, I took a bag of skittles and stuck them in the ground. I watered them for about a week until my mom asked what i was doing. She explained that skittles dont make rainbows :)
I used to believe that if you ate poppyseed muffins, flowers would grow out of your ears. My sisters would tease me and waive muffins in front of me while I panicked and cried my eyes out. Thankfully my mom talked me out of my belief.
When I was around five I walked up to my mother and asked her why some cows were white and why some cows were brown. She simply told me that white cows give white milk and brown cows give chocolate milk.I believed it for 6 years!!
When i was little, i went to my uncle's house. I asked for some lemonade, but he told me not to drnk it because it made you small by shrinking you. i belived it had something to do with the bubbles, and the gas that somehow made you small. I told myself i'd never drink it again, but of course being little, i just forgot, and i've drunk it ever since!!
One day in church the priest read us the passage in the Bible where Jesus curses a fig tree. I got it into my head that all figs were cursed, and when one was packed in my best friend's lunch box, I ran screaming towards her, snatched it out of her hand, and threw it into our school pond. When I told my friend that all the figs were cursed, she replied that I must have cursed all the goldfish in the pond, and I felt very guilty!
I used to think the mushrooms the Mario Brothers eat made you grow big if you ate one. I used to look for them. Then I looked in a book and noticed that it was real, and poisonous.

My family moves a lot because my dad's in the military, and it was about 1996 (I was 6 then) when we moved to Manitoba from Nova Scotia.
My parents made coffee with the coffee machine that was supplied in one of our hotel rooms. I heard them discussing it. My dad made a face at the coffee and stated, "I got the grounds". Little did I know that my parents use the term "the grounds" for when the coffee doesn't filter properly and you get coffee grounds in your cup.
Well, I thought The Grounds was a disease, and in my six-year-old mind, diseases were always fatal. I wondered why my mom and dad were so calm about my dad having such a horrible illness. I vowed never to drink coffee because I did not want to end up in the hospital, let alone dead, from a case of The Grounds.
My parents still say "I got the grounds", and I still haven't told them my beleif. I now enjoy coffee, and I'm still alive evough to be typing this. Hahahaha.
I used to think that strawberry milk was made from pink cows. And then one day on my way to my grandfathers house i "saw" a pink and i asked everyone if pink cows aren't ral, thta means the one i saw was the only one in the world, how comes it isn't famous?"
My cousin once told me when I was 7 that broccoli stems were poisonous and that you'd die if you ate them.
I am quite happy to have been told this by my mother, that they are indeed, not poisonous.
