When my brother was little he used to believe that all the mushrooms in the world were evil and waging some sort of a personal war against him.

One day my brother walked to a large, flat stone in the middle of our lawn. Then he noticed that the stone was actually surrounded by tiny fungi, panicked and started to cry. After some time my mom heard him and she had to carry him off the stone because he couldn't walk over the mushrooms again.

One another time he had a very high fever. He was delirious and thought that his whole blanket was covered with fungi.

My brother still doesn't want to have anything to do with mushrooms.

My uncle Son used to told me that seeds I swallowed can grow into a tree through my belly. And if I do not clean myself frequently, it can generate enough fertilizer to become a real big tree, bearing fruit.

When I was a kid I used to believe that there were 4 tubes or pipes that food went down when you swallowed them. The 4 tubes corresponded to- what was then- the 4 food groups. So when you choked on a piece of food and it "went down the wrong tube" it was because a vegetable must've went down the dairy tube...

When I was about three I used to think that lipgloss was called "lickluss" and that you were supposed to eat it.

When I was a little boy, my mom was VERY health concious. In the grocery store, I asked my mom to buy some Kool Aid. She refused, saying that it was bad for your teeth. I said, "Then why do they even MAKE it?". She said, "For people who want their teeth to rot.". I took her 100% literally and was horrified to think that there were people in the world who actually WANTED their teeth to rot and would buy a product specifically made for that purpose!

i used to belive that eating shredded wheat was realy bad for you because how you remember north east south west, never eat shredded wheat!

My neice used to believe that it was ok to eat meat so long as it was "the kind that grows in the ground"

Therefore, as long as she could justify to herself that the beef she was eating was grown, so was ok

i used to believe that hamburgers were made with BOOGERS, the sort in your nose and always refused to eat them.

When I was a little girl, my mom used to make sandwiches for me and my brother. I would always have a grilled cheese sandwich, since I guess I did a minor transposition in my head and turned "grilled" into "girled." My brother always ate boysenberry sandwiches (since they were obviously for boys) after he realized they weren't POISONberry sandwiches and our mother wasn't really trying to kill us.

When I was five, the woman who cut my hair told me that if I wanted to make my hair grow faster, all I had to do was eat liver and spinach.

I was in college by the time I was able to shake my mother's notion that liver was not actually my favorite food, or anywhere close to it, and that I'd only choked it down because I thought I'd have Rapunzel hair.

Spinach, though, I wound up liking.

While out shopping with my parents at age 3 or 4, I saw a sign that said "beverages" and I assumed that this was some sort of term for a more grown-up person - at least 8 or 9 years old. When my mother told me to run ahead and pick out some juice, I was very worried that I would be arrested or yelled at for going down the "beverages" aisle when I had very clearly not yet reached a "bever age".

Growing up, my mother always told me that milk would make my bones and teeth healthy and strong. I decided that I wanted good, strong teeth, so every time I drank a glass of milk, I would swish every sip around in my mouth for as long as possible. I thought that the more the milk touched my teeth, the stronger they would become. My mom would see me swishing my milk around and tell me to swallow it, but only once I was old enough to know the truth did she know why I would keep it in my mouth for so long.

— Elisafood : milk

i used to belive that "dessert" was a word that my family had made up until one day, at a restaurant, the waiter asked if i wanted dessert. i asked if this man was my uncle. to this day my parents don't know why.

When I was little, my grandma(maybe grandpa too) told me that if I didn't eat I'd get smaller and smaller till I could fit through the crack under the door. She (they) told this to my cousins too. When I was about 6, I believed this was true and I really wanted to grow. So that upset me. Till I grew up enough to realize it wasn't true. I've skipped meals before and I'm the size I'm supposed to be. I'm still here.

Long ago I was told that if I ate watermelon seeds, then a watermelon would grow in my tummy and it would explode!

I used to believe that everyone had a "sweet tooth" meaning there was really a tooth in your mouth that tasted like candy. I was disappionted to find that none of my teeth tasted like candy.

I used to believe that pickles were cucumbers, which they are, only, a pickle had the chicken pox. Therefore, I was terrified of eating pickles because I thought I would get the chicken pox!
