i used to believe that if i ate a peach pit, a peace tree would grow in my stomach.

seriously. i was a dumb kid.

I'm sure I'm not the first to add this one, but my mom instilled in all of her children the insane fear that if you don't cook your pork until it's a piece of shoe leather, you'll get worms that eat through your brain.

My sister and I used to eat alot of salt when we were little. We used to even pour it in our hand and lick it off.

One day while doing this in a fast food restaurant my parents told us a story about a little boy who kept salt next to his bed and licked some off his hand each night before he went to sleep.

Consequently, they told us, he died. We stopped eating so much salt after that...

I used to believe that the Aunt Jemima syrup bottle was really supposed to talk. I'd sit there with my pancakes just going off her, "Talk, bitch, talk!"

I used to think I had to eat two biscuits or two mini choc bars at a time because if I only ate one it would be lonely. Poor little biscuit, getting digested all on its own . . . sniffle.
I do not believe this now, but eating two biscuits at a time has become a habit. No wonder I'm so fat.

At my grandparents house was a cupboard with
containing bottles of spirits. One bottle
that particularly fascinated me was labelled
Teacher's Whisky and I used to think that all
the teachers at school drank it. One day I
poured myself a cupful of Teacher's Whisky and
drank it in a large gulp. The taste was absolutely
vile and it felt like my mouth was on fire. For
many years after that I reckoned that the nasty
taste of Teacher's Whisky was why most of the
teachers at my school were so nasty.

When I was little I was told all children love chocolate. I hated it and lived in real dread for many years that someone would find it out.

I usd to believe that when vanilla ice cream got stale the store sent the big carton back to the factory where it was turned into chocolate ice cream and sold back to the store. I thought I was not allowed to eat chocolate ice cream because that was how it was made.

When i was young, my Granny, aunts, uncles and of course papa and mama used to tell us that if you didnt finish every bit of rice(we asians here have rice as staple) off your plate, whatever thats left over on it will appear of your future husband/wife's face as pockmarks and pimple. And i figured what its noodles that left over? oh man, wouldnt that be scars that would appear then?! Up till now, i still kinda believe in it.

I used to believe that you could always tell who was a "big" kid.
Big kids could always eat the apple all the way around BEFORE it started to turn brown!

My mother drank alot of coffee, so I would ask her for some. She always told me coffee made you ugly! I have never drank coffee.

I thought that I was the only one that believed this until I came to this site.
My older sister once told me that if you swallow a black watermelon seed that it would grow into a watermelon in your tummy. I would only eat watermelon if all the black seeds were taken out. Come to think of if I still take out all the black seeds.

When I was in kindergarten, my neighbor, who was several years older than me, said that bologna was made from puppy tongues, and that was why it's cold and wet. I asked my parents about it when I got home, but I never did like bologna again, even after finding out that it wasn't really made from puppy tongues.

When I was 2nd-3rd grade, I use to believe that drinking Gatorade would turn your blood into the color of that drink. Drinking green Gatorade would turn your blood green, etc..

My mother and I were once shopping at an Aisan food store. There are foods such as pig tounge and pig blood. I asked my mom why were there so much pig food and she said that you could eat any part of the pig, because the entire pig was edible. I thought this was disgusting and I also thought that if you ate any part of the pigs besides the regular meat, you'd either turn into a pig, or get extremeley sick. When I saw people buying the pig tounge and bood, I'd run away from them!

When I was young, I was told that when eating fruits such as watermelons which has lots of seeds in it, if you accidentally swallow those seeds, a watermelon plant might just grow on top of your head. Same goes for other fruits like oranges or grapes. And I believed that until I was like 7 years old when common sense finally kicked in.
