My brother told me one time when I was about 4 that if I drank milk and threw up, it would come out in cubes.

I believed this until I was 13 and was amazed when it didn't work that way.

My friend's mom told me I shouldn't eat raw jello out of the package because it gave you bookworms. I was so scared I smacked the box out of my friends hand, when she brought it to school one day.

My mom told me that when I chewed gum, little men in my mouth ran down into my stomach and told the little men down there to start disgesting. And then when no food came (since it was just gum), instead they'd start digesting my stomach. So I believed there were small creatures inside my body, who governed all my bodily actions. Imagine it, it's more traumatizing than it sounds.

I was always told that any berry in the woods was totally poisonous, but I eventually lived dangerously and ate wild raspberries without letting my parents or other adults see. I'm still alive!

I believed until I was well into my thirties that the bread crust contained all the vitamins and I must always eat it.

We were in line to get into our 3rd grade class and my friend had a stash of red licorice in her pocket so i asked her:
"Can I have some Licor?"
my abbreviation for licorice sounded like liquor and so she and the rest of my class were alarmed. She insisted she didn't have a liquor and i knew that she did. We were in a fight about it for weeks.

When I was 8 or so, I misheard my aunt ordering dumplings at a Chinese restaurant. I thought she said "Duckings."

I wouldn't eat dumplings until I was 15, when one of my friends managed to convince me that they weren't actually made from baby ducks.

When I was young (I don't say "when I was a child," for the belief persisted until age 18), I believed that cauliflower was the same vegetable as broccoli, only it had been picked before it "turned green" (just as immature pumpkins are green, then turn orange upon ripening). When disabused of this notion -- in an embarrassing incident during freshman year (college) dining hall -- I realized that my parents had misled me in order to get me to eat my cauliflower, by associating it with a vegetable I already enjoyed.

My dad always told us that pancake batter and cornbread batter would eat a hole in your stomach if you ate it raw. Because it has a bit of a bite to it, I COMPLETELY believed him. He said cookie batter and such just gave you worms, so I didn't mind sneaking some of that now and then.

I used to believe…

THat Cheesecake was actually made of cheese. I was 18 when I found out it wasn't!

When I was quite young my parents and grandparents would go mushroom hunting every spring. I always thought it was strange that my mother and grandmother only went mushroom hunting and not rabit or feasant hunting like my father an grandfather. I could not imagine my mother or grandmother shooting at anything. I thought it some sort of small animal you hunted and then later ate for dinner.

When I was lil, my babysitter made me some lemonade in a white-yellowish Tupperware bowl. I thought it was the same bowl that was at the bottom of my training toilet. I thought she was trying to poison me. It was a very hot day, but I still wouldn't drink it.

I used to think that Chewing Gum grew under the tables and chairs at the Pub where my Mum worked. I can remeber picking massive wads of it and eating it along with my friend. Never swallowed it though because my mother told me that it would stick my heart to my chest so it couldnt beat. Never asked me where I got the Gum from though................

I used to think that the yellow in store-bought eggs was really a baby chick that didn't hatch. To this day I can only eat them scrambled.
