Up until the age of 21 I believed pickles were pickles, I had no idea they were cucumbers.
I was told by my lying sod of a mother that if I didn't wash behind my ears that cauliflowers and potatoes would start to grow there - I'll never forget the time - after a rather vigorous (and swampy) 5 aside football match, she removed a whole baby cauliflower (what I now realise was a frozen cauliflower floret - the joys of sleight of hand) - and took the credit for preventing my ears from becoming a garden allotment.
my dad told me when i was little that lifesavers grew on a certain tree. whenever we went by it he would pretend to pick some off and give them to us. A couple years later i realised that he was just taking them from his pocket. that was a sad day.
I used to think that when popcorn was popping a giant war was happening inside of the pop corn bag.
My friend used tot hink that there was a leprichaun inside the bag and he would get so mad he would pop
When I was young I used to eat worms. Reason for this was cause I thought it was spaghetti and every time I bring my new pals round my parents tell of my dreadful mistake!!!!

my grandmother used to tell me that if you ate rice pudding everyday you would live to be onr hundred years old.
When my brother was around seven or eight he developed a strange obsession with orange juice. At one stage he was drinking so much of it we began to get rather concerned. The truth was finally revealed one morning when my mum spotted him carefully examining a carton. 'Mum', he said. 'If I drink loads of long-life orange, do you think I'll have a REALLY long life?'
I was convinced all through my childhood that the backbone in a sardine was actually its teeth!
I was told by a friend that cherry cola was made from the bodies of red ants and consequently spent a good hour staring into a bottle of said drink to check if there were any in there. There was no indication of whether black ants contributed to Guiness or if lime cordial was the product of greenfly.

My sister and I used to try to convince our mom to buy us Smarties by telling her that eating Smarties will make us smarter.
In an effort to ensure that my sister and I ate all the rice in our bowls, my mom would tell us that the amount of rice left-over in our bowls will equal to the amount of freckles on our future spouses. Not having been exposed to freckles at that time, we both ate every, single piece of rice dutifully. Funny thing is I still can't leave any rice left-over comfortably even though I think freckles are cute.
when i was wee my mum told me that if u swallowed chewing gum u'd grow a rabbits tail so i didn't ever ever do it until one day i was too curious that i hid under a desk in my bedroom to swallow it so she wouldnt see me and the tail never came. quite disappointing after the excitement that i could grow a tail had built up!
When I was young I used to think that "sugar-free" chewing gum meant there was a special offer, where you could get a free bag of sugar if you sent off the wrapper!
I used to believe that the little plastic size tags you got on hangers in clothes shops were chewing gum!
When my parents were out and my Sister looked after me, she used to make up a drink from jelly cubes. I used to love this but after I had drunk it she said if I stopped moving it would set in my stomach as a big jelly...so I would keep jiggling about for about an hour.

I used to believe that a brothel was where poor people used to go to get free broth.
I wouldn't eat brown bread as a child because for some reason I thought it was dirty and therefore boys bread. I belive that came from the old saying little girls are made of surgar and spice and little boys are made of puppy dog tails and snails. Thus snails crawl on the ground I guess making them dirty
