I used to believe that made from scratch meant that the baker would scratch a cutting board with their fingernail and little bits of white powder would appear. This was where the flour came from to make something from scratch. No wonder bread "made from scratch" were revered!

I don't like mustard, and once when I was around 5 went to Mcdonalds with my grandma and there was mustard on my cheeseburger. I freaked out and said I wouldn't eat it...until she told me it was yellow ketchup. I believe it was yellow ketchup until I was about 11 and I realized yellow ketchup didn't exist.

When I was little, my brother and sister told me that dog food was actually coco puffs. They got me to eat a WHOLE BOWL!! Actually, dog food is gross, but not that bad. And now, every once in awhile, I take a nibble of a dog treat out of curiosity. Most of them are really gross!!! :P

When I was younger I used to believe that broccoli was tiny trees that little elves cut down. Because of that it was my favorite food. I wanted the little elves to always have a job. Even now knowing broccoli is just a veggie grown its still my favorite. I am definitely going to tell my kids that they are still tiny trees :)

When I was preschool/kindergarten age I believed that Trolli gummy worms were actual worms that you could buy and keep as pets who would be all bright colored and wonderful. I was convinced if you wrote the company they would send you some for free. I kept telling this to my mother, who for some reason let me believe it was the truth.

I used to believe that you put butter on things to cool them down. It never occurred to me that it was for flavor until I was almost a teenager.

Naturally, growing up in Massachusetts, all of my family had Boston accents. One night, after asking what we were having for dinner, my mother responded "chicken parm". Without the letter "r" it sounded like "chicken palm". I believed that one of my favorite foods was the palm of a chicken.

my mom always told me that cucumbers had gas in them and thats what made you burp so to get the gas out she cut the ends off and rubbed the end on the rest of the cucumber. i believed this worked until i was married...

You know how on the menu at restaurants, how they say "with refill"? Well, when I was young, I thought that said rifle. So I thought restaurants gave out free rifles with soda. Yes, this is true.

When I was little whenever I'd eat water melon my mom would tell me not to eat the seeds. Once I was eating it with my pregnant aunt and for years after that I thought if you swallowed the watermelon seeds, you grew a watermelon in your stomach.

When I was a kid my teacher told my class a story about how a woman had a bananasnake living in her intestines because she ate the bottompart of a banana where the bananasnake lay their eggs. I believed it was true for years, and though I now know it's not true I still can't make myself eat the last half-inch of a banana.
