I used to believe that a tree would grow inside you if you ate the seed of an apple or any other fruit!

When I was a little boy I loved peas and I wouldn't touch corn, so my parents told me they were split peas(in danish they are called yellow peas), I had heard of them, but never seen them and since corn was yellow I believed this untill I was 6 years old

My friends told me in junior school that if I chewed gum and swallowed it that it would give me appendicitis!....Guess what I did and it didn't!!

I used to believe that however old I was, that's how many spoonfuls of sugar I should be allowed to put in my cereal.

I look at that idea very differently now that I'm 37!

I'm sure everyone feels the same but when i was a kid, i always felt that if you swallowed the chewing gum then you would die because it clog up all your insides. Up to a few years a ago i honestly was scared of a wrigleys wrapper.

I came home from school one day and insisted to my Mum that I'd had conkers for lunch. After a few 'phone calls my Mum found out that we had been given prunes for pudding.

My great Aunt used to tell me and my little brother that the withches at the end of the garden would use our empty eggshells (after having boiled egg and soldiers) to mix spells in. To this day I still make a hole in the shell when I finish my egg!

During the African famine of 84 and 85, my mum served me up these ice cream things covered with chocolate. I would not eat them as they looked like tits and thought that the tits were cut off from dead women and shipped over here for puddings.

I used to believe that the tiny bits of food left in the gravy when you've finished eating were calories. I knew that eating too many calories was a bad thing, so I always made sure I left some.

A few years ago in the UK, there used to be adverts for a breakfast meal called Ready Brek (a bit like porridge)which used to show kids getting an orange glow after eating. When I used to eat it I was convinced I would have an orange glow afterwards. This was not helped by my parents who used to tell me that I had the glow when asked.

I used to beileve that eggs over medium were called dip toast eggs. I didn't realize till I went to a resturant and tried to order a dip toast egg, that they weren't called that.

As a youngster during winter I was told that when I ate my bowl of 'Readybrek'(porridge to the less fortunate)you would glow orange like the guy on the packet. When I asked my mum why none of my fiends could see I was told this is because only adults could see it. After a 20 minute car ride to school I was always told that it had worn off so none of the teachers could see it either so don't ask. Got me for years, obviously my siblings will be told this one too.

My mother once told me that the scum on the top of the pan when boiling potatoes was good for your eyesight. I was eating that stuff for weeks before I caught her laughing!

When I was four, a person in my primary class often took liver sandwiches to school. At this point I didn't understand that other animals had livers, so I thought it was human liver. Nobody told me any differently, and because this other kid was doing it, I assumed it was okay, but I would never eat that stuff.

I know the difference now, but I still won't eat liver.

my grandfather always told me that white cows give milk, brown cows gave chocolate milk and black cows give ink. I was totally puzzled when I saw fields of brown and white or black and white cows. I never did figure out what they gave.

I once heard on Newsround that if you ate burgers and drank coke it would poison you. So when we went to MacDonalds I would always made sure that I ate a few chips in between eating my burger and drinking my coke. Always careful they didn't mix in my mouth as that would poison me.

When I was 4, I deeply believed that eating ants is healty and even lenthen my life, so I ate "an ant a day" alive from my yard. I still remember the sour taste.
