A mean, older kid that knew I had a phobia of vomit told me if I drank orange juice in the morning I would get really sick because of the acids. It took me years to completely convince myself that that was untrue.

My Mom used to tell me if I swallowed an apple seed I would grow an apple tree inside my stomach!

My grandmother would tell us that if we chew, chewing gum at night we actually chew the bones of the dead. Until today I have a bad feeling when I pop a chewing gum at night

when I was a young man my dad convinced me that haggis's were little hairy creatures that lived on Scotish hillsides with legs that were shorter on one side so they could stand on the hill comfortably, how easily we are mislead :0)

Once, when I was about 8 years old, my mom allowed me to make a batch of brownies from a box mix. The directions said, "Stir by hand" so that is what I did: I stuck my hand in the bowl of batter to stir. My mom and I both got a good laugh out of that one.

When we were younger, I told my little brother that if you planted a sesame seed from the top of a hamburger bunn, then a hamburger tree would grow. After a while I felt bad because he planted one in our back yard and would water it, thinking he was going to have a hamburger tree.

I used to believe that if you drank three glasses of straberry quick, you would automatically stop growing and stay the same size ever. Porbably because one time, my uncle (who is really short) was drinking strawberry quick, and I asked him if I could have some, and he told me that I didn't want any, because I didn't want to stop growing and be 4 feet tall for the rest of my life. I haven't had a glass of straberry quick since.

At dinner time my brother and I would put our chewing gum on a "gumparker". I wonder how long I actually chewed the same piece of gum. It also makes me wonder what other words (still in my daily vocabulary) were invented by my parents and are indecipherable to other people.

I thought the caraway seeds in my great aunt's rye bread were mouse droppings, and there was no way I was going to eat that bread.
I also thought Sen-Sen, breath mints?, was really Sin-Sin, and I thought the Methodist Church which I attended should get on the ball and get rid of it as fast as possible.
