When I was five, I drank chocolate milk (my favorite drink) and woke up in the middle of the night feeling sick. I threw up for 3 days and had to go to the emergency room to find out that I was constipated. I thought chocolate milk was poisonous after that, and to this day I haven't had another glass!

I used to believe…

up until a couple of years ago (i'm in my late 20's), i use to believe if you ate out of an ice cream tub and put it back in the freezer, germs would culminate enough to make the next person who ate the ice cream deathly ill. turns out my mom told me this so we wouldn't eat of the gallon. i'm wise to her ways now....about damn time!

I used to believe pickles grew on bushes, like a lot of other vegetables. I was shocked when my Granny Carter said one day she was going to make pickles. "Make pickles!?" I exclaimed. I was so surprised when she explained to me that you make them from cucumbers. SHE was surprised that I was 12, and had eaten pickles all my life and didn't know that..............

I used to think when my mom was offering me a grilled cheese sandwich, she was offering a "girl cheese" sandwich. So I always wondered what my brother would eat - I had never heard of a "boy cheese" sandwich.

We used to cook with green peppers a lot, and I know my parents told me not to eat the seeds. They admit this much. But they deny ever telling me that the seeds were POISONOUS or SO HOT THEY WILL BURN YOUR THROAT. I am *sure* they said one or the other.

My older brother used to tell me if you ate raw potatoes your teeth would grow long and curly!

I was told as a child that I couldn't drink black coffee because it would either 1)stunt my growth or 2)turn me black. Consequently, I always drank coffee with creamer and still do to this day.

My Da always told me that if you swallowed gum, it would end up in your appendix because thats what they were for. I ALWAYS spit out my gum when he said that!!

I thought that if you swallowed watermelon, peach, plum seeds etc. an actual tree, or patch (whatever the case may be) would begin to grow out of your mouth.

I used to believe that if you ate any kind seed (mainly water melon) that you would get a plant growing inside your belly and after a while it would come out of your mouth and that you would die because of it. (It didn't help that my mother actually told us that this would happen either. I still dont swallow watermelon or passion fruit seeds, even though i know they wont hurt me.)

When i was little i would not eat sweetcorn, so my mum told me it was not sweetcorn but yellow peas

i explained to my 5 year old brother about how burgers came from cows and sausages from pigs. after a couple of hours of what must have been hard thinking. he came back to me and said:
"i know how they make chips"
"ok"
"well they get a yellow dog..."

Not me, but my girlfriend.
When she was younger, her aunty told her that a bug lives in the end of a banana. She still chops off each end of a banana to this day...

My parents always told me that if I swallowed an apple pip, an apple tree would then grow in my belly and consequently grow out my mouth. This of course applied to any fruit. Imagine my panic when I did accidentally swallow a pip.

I used to have phobia about seafood (shrimp, crabs, etc.) because I thought that they would slither up my face and crawl into one of my orifices. There it would proceed to nest and slowly eat my brain and lay eggs...

Although I never thought it would kill me, I used to think that gum would get stuck on my ribs if I swallowed it and just be a gooey mess.
