My parents always called the brown rubbery thing in the middle of mussels the "froggy" so I thought it was a real frog that got trapped in the shell. One day I was eating a mussel fritter and it had a froggy in it - I could have sworn it jumped out at me (making a break for it's freedom)! It gave me such a fright that I wouldn't eat mussels again as a child.

when I was about 5 my mother told me that sherbet was made out of dead people??!! I was most disturbed by this and after many many years, have only managed to muster the courage to try sherbet again in my late twenties.

A family friend said he could wiggle his ears because he ate a lot of carrots. I faitfully ate my carrots but somehow I could never get my ears to move.

When I was about 5 or 6 my brothers showed me this jar of nuts. I'm assuming now that I'm an adult they had sucked the candy coating from some penut M&M's to give the complete effect. Anyway..... they told me that this jar was filled with ...<ahem> POOP NUTS......they then proceeded to OPEN THE JAR AND EAT THEM........... welp - needless to say - I don't like nuts to this very day.

When I was little, my mom used to tell us that if you ate too much sugar, you will get worms in your heiney.

when i was around four or five, my mother used to tell me that when you ate watermelon seeds, you'd turn into a watermelon. i of course pretended not to believe her, but one day as we munched on some watermelon, she ate the seeds instead of spitting them out. "you'll turn into a watermelon!!" i cried. she told me that was something she'd made up, and i went up to my room to play until dinner.

around six, my mother called out for me to come to the table, but i was busy playing so i didn't go. there was a knock on my bedroom door, and my mom said, "honey, are you coming to dinner?"

i turned to tell her i'd be there in a minute, and there was a WATERMELON WHERE HER HEAD SHOULD HAVE BEEN!!!! i screamed bloodly murder as the watermelon admonished me on my tardiness and told me to wash my hands before coming to the table. and then my mom dropped the melon to reveal her real head and laughed and laughed as she headed downstairs.

i no longer believe watermelon seeds turn you into a watermelon, but i i do believe in therapy.

I used to believe that chocolate milk came from brown cows - until my younger cousin told me otherwise.

When I was very small my mom's best friend worked in a restaurant with chocolate milk that came from a special chocolate cow that lived in the basement. Unfortunately for me it was always asleep when we went to visit so I never got to see it!

I used to believe that a drinking problem actually was when you had a problem getting the drink to your mouth-- like they showed on "Airplane"

Totino's once had a commercial for their Pizza Bites in which a whole pizza was folded down into one little Pizza Bite. I believed that a Pizza Bite was literally an entire pizza folded up, and told people I could eat a whole pizza in one bite.

I used to believe…

up until i was about 8, i refused to eat sugar puffs, or ever utter the phrase 'i want my honey!' because if i did i would turn into the Honey Monster. i gradually learned to turn off the tv when the sugar puffs adverts came on.

i was also terrified of worzel gummidge, and once stole a worzel gummidge book from my nursery class and put it in the bin in the girls' toilets.

and i thought dinosaurs lived in my bathroom.

When I was little, my Dad used to tell me that if you left the crusts of pizza in the box and put it in the trash (in our garage) that the pizza would grow back. I remember hiding the pizza box in the garage just waiting for new pizza to grow onto the old crusts!

I was told that there was a kid down the street who would always swallow his chewing gum. Eventually he swallowed so much, and since gum doesn't get digested in your stomach, he had to be rushed to the emergency room one day to have his stomach pumped. I am still not sure if this is true or not but I don't swallow my chewing gum. If anyone can clue me in on this let me please know.
