I used to believe that black people were black because they ate too much chocolate. I avoided chocolate until I was 15.

It started when, out of curiosity, I asked a black man why he was black. He answered me that he loved chocolate so much, and couldn't stop eating it (he used to love chocolate...a LOT!)

I used to believe that the devices that we used extensively would get tired, which is why we needed to turn them off. One day, it struck me that the same devices that get "tired" should also be thirsty, as I was after playing around outside.

So, I started quenching the thirst of the inanimate objects I valued, with coke, which included the telephone in the living room, my portable cassette player, my game console, and a couple of remote controlled cars (as well as several action figures.)

My mother stopped me just in time before I moved on to "help" the living room TV.

I used to think that baby chicks were removed from the eggs we eat, replaced with yolk and whites, then glued back together. Since I didn't understand the idea of conception yet, it was the only explination!!

I am 25 years old and I just found out that Key Lime Pie is not made with kiwi's and lime, but actually a yellowish lime that grows in South Florida called a key lime. It made sense to me that "Key" was obviously short for kiwi.

I am very dissapointed, because the only reason I liked Key Lime pie was because of the kiwi...

Yesterday my 12 year old daughter informed me that they now make popsicles for adults only. I told her that popsicles were for everyone, not just kids. Then I realized what she was talking about. The "shards-o-glass" anti tobacco commercial? She thought it was a real commercial for real "adults only" popsicles.

I used to believe in 'SPAM' animals until I was 13 years old and read the back of a can. Thanks to my father's wild imagination and description of a beast that had parts from all types of animals, I never ate any SPAM!!

My Grandpa told me when I was 6 years old if I drank coffee the bottoms of my feet would turn black. He also told me that if I ate the crusts on bread I would get curly hair. Even though I now know it's not true-I don't do either and I'm 40!!

When I was smaller, I used to think that if I buried a sunflower seed, it would magically grow into a sunflower and would reproduce more sunflowers and I would have even more sunflower seeds to eat. I thought I was being resourceful. I'm sure I buried over 100 sunflower seeds in our front yard.

When I was little I heard my mom say she had lost her serial code and therefore could not register some software on her computer. Wanting to help, I ripped all of our boxes of cereals apart, waiting for a cereal code to fall out.

When my cousin and I were about 5 or 6, we would always see her 13 year old sister putting on chapstick, then smack and lick her lips. We were convinced she was eating it and must've really liked it, because she'd reapply it a lot. So we found some old chapstick and licked it. We were convinced she had terrible taste!

Growing up back east, we often had cold-cut sandwiches of tongue. It was my mother's favorite. One day I asked her, "Mom, why do they call it "tongue" - that's kind of funny, don't you think?" When she told me that it really was sliced tongue from a cow, I stopped eating it. Years later I realized it was because I couldn't bear the thought of tasting something that was tasting me back!
