When I was young, but old enough to make my own lunch, I thought that if I wanted something warm at lunchtime, all I had to do was heat it up in the morning; If I closed the container fast enough, it would still be warm at lunchtime. Unfortunately, it didn't take long for me to figure that wasn't quite how it worked.

When I was about 2 or 3, the shop across the street from my house sold these flavoured bubblegum fthings like banana to even chocolate milkshake, i think it was about 42 flavours they had and the greatest of all it was each one of them had a different colour wrap, depending on the flavour. So with a bit of help from the nanny me would go to the shop and id get at least 3 gums a day and of course id end up swallowing it - just because it tasted SO GOOD that i couldnt resist myself to do it -. Thing is though, my 2 older sisters (9 and 18 years old) would tell me the gum was gonna get stuck in my stomach and that i would get such a big belly that my parents were gonna find out i had been eaten gum all day. So the ONLY and MARVELOUS solution -according to my "caring" sisters was to take a tablespoon of cooking oil to "grease it all down" and "release" the stuck bubblegum from my sytem.
This carried on for about 3 weeks - and i agreed to it just because i loved bubblegum so much - until i told the nanny my stomach hurt and that i kept having diarrheas, both my sisters were grounded and forced to eat something nasty like broccoli everyday for 3 weeks.
PS: i still swallow gum... and im 23

When my boys were 5 and 6 I bought the clear kool-aid to drink on occasion and they would ask me what it was and told them it was "Magic Water", water that came out of the spout just for me that tasted better than water....needles to say I had to explain myself when their friends or family came over and they were excited to offer this magic water that tasted like kool-aid.

When I was very young, to get me to eat veal, my Mother told me it was chicken without the bone. Of course I believed Her until, at age 21 at my engagement party, I embarrassed myself by letting this gem loose upon a whole room of future relatives.

When we were younger, my brother, me, and some school-friends used to believe that tea is made from leaves on hedges - especially privet hedge leaves, because they look like the leaves on the PG Tips box. We used to pluck leaves from the hedges at school and get told off for it.
I don't remember why, but when I was about 7 I thought that touching raw turnips would burn you. I was helping my mom in the kitchen one day when she asked me to put some sliced turnips in a bowl. She was confused when I proceeded to put on gloves.

I used to believe that when you were hungry, if you took too long to get something to eat, your stomach would start to digest itself. Because of this belief, it used to scare me when my stomach would start to growl, since I thought it was only a matter of time before my stomach started to "eat" itself.

When I was very small, I remember sitting in my mom's lap in the car(it wasn't going) and she popped some gum in my mouth. Just as she said 'don't swallow that' I had. I thought it was normal food. She panicked and told me that it would stay in my stomach forever.
Then she gave me another piece, as long as I promised I would never swallow it.
Unfortunately I am allergic to gum now(aspartame) and can't have it...

Because "scone" sounds so much like "cone," I always imagined it as a cone, with ice cream in it, served sideways on a plate. Blueberry scones were blueberry ice creams turned on their sides, raspberry scones were raspberry ice cream. I figured I'd rather eat my ice cream upright so I stayed away from scones and didn't find out what they really were until I was 19.
