I used to believe…

Aswell as believeing that my toys came to life when I wasn't looking, I also thought the fruit and veg in the fridge did too so I always used to yank the door open quickly to catch them, or I'd spend ages looking in the fridge with the door only slightly open hoping to trick them into coming alive.

I used to believe that chocolate chips were ships dipped in chocolate. But now I don't.

As a child I believed that Scotch whisky had other uses besided just drinking. For one I thought it provided the sticky substance on Scotch tape. So one day when I found that some old Scotch tape on a book of mine was no longer sticking, I tried to make it stick again by putting some of my father's Scotch on it. Needless to say, that didn't work. Knowing what I know now, I'm just glad that my father never noticed any of his Scotch to be missing. I really doubt that he would have believed my explanation if he had!

Remember "I can't believe it's not butter?" I used to believe it was this big scam done by the CIA just to trick people into thinking that this stuff WASN'T butter - but really, they were all just being tricked into eating more butter.

When we were little, my sister told me that I was allergic to Entenmann's doughnuts and orange juice--my favorite foods!

I never called the Chef Boyardee pasta things by the actual names. Beefaroni were tubes, lasagna was twists, spaghetti was squigglys, and the Ravioli was squares.

I used to believe…

When I was very young my Grandma told me if you didn't drink your freshly squeezed orange juice straight away the vitamins would fly away. Therefore I either used to drink my juice straight away or I covered my glass to keep the vitamins in. It's wasn't until a couple of years ago that my partner (yes, I'm 35 now!!) asked why I kept putting coasters over our orange juice that I realised my Grandma may have been "economical" with the truth!!

I always thought that "grilled" cheese sandwiches were called "girl" cheese sandwiches. I once asked my Mom (I was about 6 years old) why they weren't called "boy" cheese sandwiches. I'm in my 30's now and I think my Mom is still laughing about "boy" cheese sandwiches!

I learned early in my life that the U.S. state of Wisconsin is a big producer of dairy products. At that time the first syllable of that state's name still vaguely ran together in my mind with the word "Swiss", so I thought that Wisconsin was the place of origin of Swiss cheese.

I used to believe…

When I was a child, I thought that alcoholic beverages came in four distinct strengths, and were named accordingly. The four categories, in increasing order of strength were: Beer, wine, whisky, and liquor. Where I live, one has to go to "liquor stores" to buy any distilled spirits. One day I asked my father why one has to go to liquor stores to buy whisky. He then told me that whisky is a type of liquor. I was so disillusioned. I had always thought that wisky was a separate category, not as strong as liquor.

I used to believe, for abt 4 years, that mushrooms were actually dog pee that grew into mushrooms after a few years at that very spot. Dad filled me in initially, but many days later my cousin told me that was a lie; we got some wild mushrooms in a bag once; the next morning the bag had a nasty shaded liquid in it, with no mushrooms.

I never had mushrooms until a few years back. i enjoy them now . :P

I used to believe to believe that you couldn't drink 7 up unless you were 7 years or older ( 7 and up) Then one day I went to a restuarant and asked for sprite but the waitor said they had only 7 up so I freaked out and didn't order it.

I used to believe that kids weren't allowed to have Cheese Nips. I think it was because my mom told me she wouldn't buy them because she didn't like them but as I got a little older I wondered why we couldn't eat them and thought maybe they had alcohol in them.

I used to believe…

When I was younger, my dad used to make baby back ribs as a special dinner treat. For some reason I used to think that military-type secret agents used to break into people's homes and steal the back ribs off of babies. Being about 4 I still considered myself a baby and was always afraid that when my dad was making the ribs 'they' would break in and steal my ribs. I believed this until i was at least 10, however once I hit about 6 I was no longer a baby and therefore no longer in danger. Of course, even thinking baby back ribs were from humans I still ate them.
