I used to believe that if you ate the crusts off bread, your hair would get curly, since that's what my mum said. I would meticulously peel the crusts off when she wasn't looking because I wanted my hair to stay straight, but obviously it didn't work as my hair is now curly.

This belief is now something of a family tradition.
My mother, who was never the greatest of chefs, told me (and all my siblings) when i was small that if i didn't eat all my supper, "the children who eat poo" would come & get me.
The children who eat poo are a bunch of naughty children who also wouldent eat thier supper & now live on the streets with nothing to eat but poo! They were like a gang of poo eating street punks.
as my mother was a self employed courier sometimes when i was in the car with her she would point to dumpsters & say thats where the children who eat poo live.
needless to say, washing the dishes in our house was never a big chore...we practically licked them clean.

When I was younger I would always chew my gum and swallow it. My aunt told me that there was this thing in my throat and when I swallowed my gum it would get stuck there. She also sayed that it stayed there for 7 years. I've always liked Quaker products... oh so yummy. But when I first moved to the U.S. they called it by another name. I wasn't sure how you pronounced it but I thought it sounded like 'Quacker' like a duck quacking. Until 5th grade I learned how to pronounce it.
