I used to believe…

my best friend's mom told us that cotton candy was made from HAIR, and therefore we should not eat it and she was most certainly not buying it for us at the fair.

I used to believe that 'no drinking in public' meant you cant drink... anything in public.
Im walking down the sidewalk with my mom and she takes a drink of water and i scream "Are you TRYING to get arrested????"

One evening we were all chatting in the kitchen, eating low fat yoghurt.. Once finished, my younger sister -who must have been 6 at the time- stood on a chair and eagerly asked: "Do I look thinner now?"

I believed until I was 16, that I was allergic to cream.

My mum used to take us to the bakers, and when my sister and I asked for eclairs, she told us we couldn't have it becuase we were allergic to cream.

It was only when I was in my late teens, when I was at my italian friends house, having pasta in a creamy sauce, and I hadn't dropped down dead or had a reaction, that I realised my mum must have lied, so she didn't have to buy us cakes!

She denies it now - reckons I'm making it up!!

When I was a kid, I didn't bother spitting out melon seeds, and swallow them instead. When my Aunt caught me at it, she told me that plants will start growing in my stomach. I used to imagine it coming out of my mouth the next morning...

My dad told me we were going for ice cream sandwiches - I got upset and finally agreed, but only if I could have mine without tomatoes. I quickly decided ice cream sandwiches were the best food ever, tomatoes or not!

When I was in kindergarten, I wouldn't eat grape seeds, worried that grapes would grow inside me if I did.

i used to believe that if you swallow a seed, it'll grow inside your body and up through your head. then you'll be walking around with a tree on top of your head. that's why people don't swallow seeds.

I used to believe…

When i was little I didn't like to eat meat (still don't), so my mother told me that Oxtail soup was made with carrots, and I believed her. Years later, I confronted her about it, and she said that duiring that war they'd remove the meat from the soup and grate in carrots to give the texture. I pointed out that the war ended a long time ago, and she just said "I'm old and I get confused", never once admiting that it was a lie.

the first time I ever had gum, my mom told me not to swallow because it was bad for you. She left the room and came back twenty minutes later and saw me drooling. I did not understand you could swallow saliva.
