When I was little my parents used to tell me that pretzels were made from wood. So thats probably why I'm not a fan of them today.

When I was little, I was drinking some chocolate milk. My brother told me that when people drink milk, farmers would have to chop down trees to make room for more cows to produce milk. If we kept drinking lots of milk, all the trees in the world would be chopped down to make room for cows. And since trees make oxygen for us to breathe, if all the trees got chopped down, we wouldn't be able to breathe and we'd all die.

though that chocolate milk came only from brown cows

I just read another belief similar to this:
Tootsie Pops had pictures printed on the wrapper, and one was an Indian shooting a star. It was the belief of many of my friends, family, etc. that you could bring those to a store for free Tootsie Pops. Honestly, i can't disprove the theory-as kind grocery workers apparently thought it was cute to here my quick and exitable explaination, and gave me one anyway.

I used to think root beer had eggs in it. I had read a story in which the main character hated eggs, and told her mom she would never eat another egg. So later, when she wanted a root beer float, her mom said she couldn't have one because it had eggs in it.
And somehow, I missed the "float" part, and thought she couldn't have root beer 'cos it had eggs in it. Truly. I thought, "Oh, maybe that's why it's foamy." The sad thing is that a little tiny part of me, while I know that no eggs are harmed in the making of root beer, senses an eggyness about root beer. Which is just odd, I know.

When I was a kid, my mom and dad would sometimes sing this song to me about peanuts. It had something to do with eating a rotten peanut and going to heaven, but heaven was full, so I came back down... and I don't remember the rest. I used to be terrified of eating peanuts, because if I ever got a rotten one, that would be it!

When I was a little kid I used to hate butter. If I saw someone putting butter on my food I would flip out. It didn't matter if it was on rolls, mashed potatoes, I wanted nothing to do with that stuff. Well, my grandmother always made this toast for me with this amazing secret seasoning, so everytime I would go over there, I'd ask her to make me some toast with the seasoning. It was only several years later that she revealed she had been putting butter on my toast all those years!!

When I was about fifteen I went on a road trip with my parents. We had breakfast at a quaint little restaurant. Our waitress had a fascinating accent I'd never heard before, and she asked me first, "Would you like soup or salad with that?" All I replied was "Yes." She asked again, and again I said yes. When she came back with both soup and salad, I thought, "Wow, this does not look like the SUPER salad I ordered."

When I was a kid, for breakfast I'd usually have cereal in milk. I used to hate milk, so I kept asking for cereal in orange juice instead since I loved OJ. I always thought my parents didn't give me it because milk is more healthy for me. Turns out they didn't give the cereal and OJ because it's disgusting. I eventually learned that the hard way. Cap'n Crunch and OJ sounded good at the time...

When I was a kid, I thought that if you left a cup of milk sit out for a really long time, it would turn into glue... I tried several times to make my own "glue"... I would leave a cup of milk sitting out in my room and would check it everyday to see if it had turned into "glue" yet--but, sadly, my mom would always find and discard my little "science project" before the milk had a chance to turn into glue...
Other than the fact that milk and glue are the same color, I have no idea how I decided that curdled milk and glue were the same thing.

My mom told me that if I ate my crusts, my hair would be curly.

When I was in the 7th grade, the science teacher explained that salt was made up of two poisonous elements- sodium and chlorine. I proceded to ask her if that was why salt was bad for you.

I used to believe that the reason why my mom never bought Ramen noodles was because they were some sort of very expensive pasta that we couldn't afford. I had no idea what they actually were until I was 12!
