My Mum used to tell me to "eat all my dinner - just think of the starving children in Africa, they'd be very grateful to have your dinner." So I got quite confused when I was told off for not finishing what was on my plate because I thought that what I left would go to the starving children in Africa.

When I was younger I was told, by my aunt, that stuffing is the inside of a turkey( heart, liver, ect..). Despite this belief every Thanksgiving I would eat it until I would begin thinking about what it was and get a little nauseous, especially if I had a particularly moist portion. It wasn't until this past thanksgiving which was after my 17th birthday that I was told the truth. But if you think about it thats not to bad because my aunt really thought it was the insides of a turkey and shes 38.
Once during dinner when I was about 6, I kept slurping my soup really loudly, and my mom got really irritated about this so she told me that "If you keep slurping your soup like that you'll go deaf." I taught myself to eat my soup in a very quiet manner and believed that until I was 10.

when i was about 5 or 6, my mom would always show me those commercials where there were kids in somalia that ate out of garbage cans because they were so poor. so my mom would show me those commercials and tell me, "That's why you should eat everything that i give you because those kids have nothing to eat." So I thought that my mom didnt want to help those kids because she told me to eat everything on my plate and not throw anything away. so naturally, i threw all the food that i could into the trash can. i thought that this would help the kids who ate out of the trash cans.
Note:
my mom meant that i shouldnt thrown any thing into the trash because i was lucky to have food and that i shouldnt waste it. i was 5 or 6 so i didnt get the meaning at the time.
