When I was smaller, I used to think that if I buried a sunflower seed, it would magically grow into a sunflower and would reproduce more sunflowers and I would have even more sunflower seeds to eat. I thought I was being resourceful. I'm sure I buried over 100 sunflower seeds in our front yard.

I love watermelon and wouldn't care about the seeds in it. My mother was worried about my habit of eating seeds along with watermelon. So she told me that if I ate the seeds, the creeper would grow from my stomach. Though it was scary I used to wonder how cool it would be to grow melon and eat it without having to spend money on buying it! Anyway, I stopped eating seeds of all fruits after that.

I used to belice that if you planted food, no matter what it was, it would grow that type of food. Imagine my dissapointment when my hot dog tree failed to bare the fruits of my labor! Im still waiting for my Bacon bush to come around

Most people are farmilar with the belief that if they swallowed a watermelon seed, a watermelon would grow in their stomach. I took it a step further when I was little, thinking *whatever* I ate would grow inside of me. Apples made apple trees, lettuce made "lettuce trees" - the best argument was steak would make a cow.

We used to cook with green peppers a lot, and I know my parents told me not to eat the seeds. They admit this much. But they deny ever telling me that the seeds were POISONOUS or SO HOT THEY WILL BURN YOUR THROAT. I am *sure* they said one or the other.

My dad told me if I swallowed watermelon or apple seeds that plants would grow in my stomach. I thought that was so cool that I swallowed a bunch of seeds just to see it work. How disappointed I was when this didn't come to, erm, fruition.

Okay, alot of kids believed the whole "swallowing watermelon seeds will cause a watermelon tree to grow inside you" thing, but I took this a little farther. When I first heard of this, I hadn't quite figured out what death was, and I had this idea of time being infinite. My reasoning went like this: Suppose that there is a "last day." But then what about the next day? There is no last day! So even if the chances of me swallowing watermelon seeds today are very small, what about tomorrow? Or the day after that? Or the day after that? I thought it was inevitable that eventually, I would swallow watermelon seeds, and I definitely would have a watermelon tree growing inside me at some point or another, and this idea scared me, alot! As you can see, I was thinking way too much!

I used to believe that if you swallowed a watermelon seed or any seed that you would turn into a tree or a vine, then Jack from Jack and the Bean Stalk would chop you down.

I was always eating watermelon seeds. My family told me that I was going to grow a watermelon patch in my stomach. I told them that the body acid would kill it first! Then I started to grow and was worried it it really was growing with me!

When I was little, I was told by a friend that the seeds in peppers are deadly poisonous. I'm 25, and know better, but still pick out every single one. It takes a while to prepare a stir-fry.

My nan once told me that if you swallowed a watermelon seed, one would grow inside you. I did that one day when I was about 6 and I had never been so scared in my life. Even after everyone told me it couldnt happen, I was still wary of them until I was about 16

When I was 4, I used to be a huge fan of the Nickelodeon show Rugrats. There's an episode were Angelica tells Chuckie that if he swallows a watermelon seed, it would grow inside him and he would blow up. This scared the crap out of me, so I stayed as far from watermelon as possible. Looking back I realize what a naive little girl I was!

When i was young, Maybe 4, my older brother told me if i planted the seeds on top of Cheeseburgers, a Cheeseburger tree would grow. Needless to say, after weeks of watering and tending, my Cheeseburger tree never sprouted.

One day when I was about 6 my older brother, 11 at the time, saw me eating an orange and noticed I was eating some of the smaller, softer seeds that were in the orange.
He told me a story about our cousin that had been eating oranges like that and had to be rushed to the hospital when they discovered an orange blossom in his ear!
For a while after that I could not eat oranges until my mom started buy naval oranges. And I spread the story until someone at school pointed out my foolery!

When I was about 7 or 8, my sister (7 years older than me) convinced me that the pips in strawberry jam where little insect eggs that would hatch and grow inside me.

I have since discovered that she just liked the strawberry jam herself and didn't want me to eat it all.
