I used to think grown-ups could see what kids were thinking because kids' foreheads acted like mini tv screens, which showed whatever the kid was thinking. This was confirmed when my mom was excited about me getting my bangs cut off. I thought the adults just all knew never speak about this ability, and I made sure to think nice thoughts when adults were around. I couldn't wait to grow up.

I used to believe that when we grow up, for jobs, we'd turn into animals. I never wanted to be a balet dancer or a doctor...I wanted to be a kitten or a polar bear!!

When I first saw pictures of my parent's wedding, I noticed that the flower girl was, oddly enough, not me. I got very upset over this, and DEMANDED to know why I wasn't the flower girl. I hadn't realized that it would be a few years before I was to be born.

My son when he was aged 4 asked me: "Mummy when I am 5 will I have a 'five-head'?" Completely puzzled, I asked him what he thought a five head was and he replied "What my forehead will turn into when I am 5" (Now he has an 'eighteen-head'!)

Whenever I got in major trouble, my dad would always shout, of course, "You're grounded!"

I thought he made up that word, so about a year later when I heard it on TV, I thought my father must be famous, his new word was popular enough that it's now being displayed on television!

I once asked my parents to buy me something, and they said they couldnt afford it and they showed me how much money they had (a little pocket change)

I went to bed that night and cried myself to sleep, thinking that soon we'd be poor and living in the streets becuase we had no more money. It never occured to me that my dad going to work meant we'd get more.

My husband's mother died when my son was 5 years old. My husband told him that, "Grandma will be with you where ever you go, watching over you." For the next several weeks, my son would cover up with a towel before taking a bath or undressing and would insist on wearing the towel during his bath. We thought this behavior was quite strange so I asked him what was wrong and he whispered to me, "Grandma's with me and I don't want her to see me."

I used to believe my mother had eyes in the back of her head because she always caught me doing something I shouldn't have been. I could never find her eyes, she said they only opened up when I was doing something bad. I remember testing her one day when I was about 5 or 6: we were in the kitchen and she had her back to me, she was standing at the kitchen sink washing dishes. So I stuck my tongue out at her and she said "I saw that, put your tongue away!" I was flabbergasted!! I finally figured out what happened that day in the kitchen: you guessed it, the WINDOW over the sink showed my reflection! Of course, I was 15 and in a different house when I finally figured this out!
