when I was little I thought that "getting laid" meant to elope, so one day my Dad was telling
me about how a young couple he knew really loved eachother but couldn't afford a wedding, so I told him "why don't they just get laid?"
I thought I was saying "why dont they elope?"
I definatly got a bad look from that one.

When I was four my mother went back to college. She brought me to the art studio one day and I made a clay pot that we left to be fired in the kiln. Sometime later I learned that our milkman had been fired and I couldn't understand what he could have done to deserve such treatment!

When I was little, I owned a Cinderella book in which Cinderella was referred to as a "maid." I asked my mom about that, and she said that "maid" was a shortened way to say "maiden." So, the next time we went on vacation, I referred to the woman who cleaned the hotel room as a maiden.

When I was a kid my mom and I would drive by nursing homes and I remember thinking that it was very sad that all the babies without moms had to go there to get "nursed".

When I was little I didn't know what the word teenager meant. I heard it a lot on tv or when my sister's friends came over. I never once thought to ask anyone what it meant, so I came up with my own definition. According to me at age 5 a teenager was an evil person who broke into your house at night to steal your toys. How I ever got this idea, I don't know. I found out what it really meant when I was about 6 and I was watching a tv show with my sister. It was about this group of teenagers and stuff that they did...so whenever they said the word teenager I would think to myself, if the people who make this tv show know that teenagers exist, why do they let them be on tv? I mean, back then I thought stealing toys was the worst thing you could do. When I asked my sister why this was so, she couldn't stop laughing. She still makes fun of me now. On my 13th birthday, she came up to me and sed "you're a teenager now, go steal someone's toys" i hate her.
I used to believe that when you got to certain age you had all your teeth removed, this was because both my parents have false teeth. (I now attend the dentist regularly!)

I remember being around 5 years old and being put to bed in the early evening. As I lay in bed, I would hear airplanes flying over our house and sooner or later hear my dad come through the front door. I thought the planes dropped him off at our house after work.
Also, my Dad was an electrical engineer. I thought he drove a train and wore a striped hat since he was an "engineer."

When I was about 7 or 8, my older brother told me that I was a robot and I wasn't really his little sister. He told me that my real family (the fridge, the toaster, etc...) only stayed at his house so if they got thrown out, so would I. Since I thought he was lying, I asked him "If I'm a robot, why do I bleed?" because I didn't think robots had blood. He said that my blood was really ketchup. AND I BELIEVED HIM. For the longest time I was afraid that I would get kicked out of the house if one of the appliances broke.
On a career day, when I still thought my parents were robots, I brought my dad (toaster) and explained that my family, though cold on the outside, were really very nice robots.
I confused my teacher once, when I told her that I wasn't bleeding, I was ketchuping.
I used to believe that when you became a "grown-up", you would automatically know how to do grown-up things, like drive a car, pay bills or balance a checkbook. *sigh* If only...
