when i was about 5 i used to share a room with my sister and i believed that my dad transformed into a lion and plastered himself to the ceiling either above my bed or by the door and he wouldn't let me leave!

"I thought Grown-ups were always Grown-ups. And that children would always be children. What a major disappointment when my mother showed me pictures of herself as a child. I knew than that I too would have to grow up one day. Now that really sucked."

I remember playing with my Barbie dolls while our babysitter was taking care of me when I was about 5 years old. Barbie and Ken were getting married and I recited the vows for them. "Do you Barbie, take Ken to be your awful wedded husband?"

My babysitter laughed and said "No, Brooke, it's 'lawful' not 'awful.'" I refused to believe her and continued to insist that it was, indeed, "awful".

I was watching a breakfast show once when I was about 6 and they mentioned the word prostitute..I asked my mum "Whats a prostitute?" and she replied "Its somebody who sells their body" To this day I remember the confusion I felt as I pictured a market stall with people laying out on stands etc selling there body i couldnt work it out ..i mean why would they do that? Wow i really dont wanna be poor when i am older...

when I was a kid and my parents were going out and we had to have a babysitter, I used to want to go with them rather than staying home. So I would ask my parents where they were going and they'd say "crazy, wanna come?" I used to think crazy was this smokey, hellish place and I was arfiad of going, so I'd say, no and suck it up at home.

I used to believe…

When my sister and I were small (younger than 5), in the house where we lived we had one of those giant glass water jars -- you know the ones, that in the 70's people used to put peacock feathers in; it was about 2 feet tall, maybe a foot and a half wide. My mother told us that it used to be her house; that, before she met our father and married him, she'd been a genie, and had lived in that bottle. She told us how it had been decorated, with lamps and silk cushions and so forth; it had evidently been very comfortable. She'd decided to become human so she could get married and have children, but she liked to keep the jar around to remember her old life by.

When I was a kid, I could not possibly believe that ANYONE would want to grow up and leave their parents. I was about 6 and told my mom that when I grew up I was NEVER going to leave her! And now I know why we grow up and move out.

I used to believe that how much you loved someone could be measured by a number. I used to tell my sister I loved her 5,031. I told my other sister I loved her 5,030.

When I first started school we played a game where we had to pretend to be anything we wanted. The other kids in the class understood that this meant what job they would like to do when they were older. I simply took 'anything' literally and proudly told my teacher that I wanted to be a unicorn when I grew up O_o; This led to teasing all through primary school about me wanting to be different animals when I was older.

I used to believe…

when I went to bed at night and listened to my parents downstairs laughing and talking, I imagined that they had really turned into withches(the cartoon-y kind with pointy black hats and boiling cauldron)..and had invited their wicth-y friends to cast spells and such....thye wer probably just doing crossword puzzles together and watching TV...

I used to believe that Grandpa (my next door neighbour's father) had lost his leg during a cricket match when he was, apparently, hit by a ball. In fact, he lost it in the First World War. I spent many afternoons sitting on the floor at his feet knocking on his false leg. It was hollow and made a nice noise.

I remember that at the time my little brother was born, I thought that you could rent babies from the hospital, and if you didn't like it, you would give it back. I kept asking my mom when we would give my brother back. A couple years later, I found out that babies were not born fully clothed.

When I was little, my brother and sister and I used to call one of my grandmas "regular grandma" in order to decipher between the two. One day, we went out to eat, and the waitress was about to pour my grandma some coffee. She asked, "Regular?" My grandma nodded, and she poured her some regular coffee. I was so amazed that the waitress "knew" my grandma's name.
