When I was in preschool, in England (at the tender age of four), the teacher was talking to us about what we wanted to be when we grew up. There was the usual- fireman, policeman, etc etc. When it came to my turn, i said "I want to be a pony!" Haha! (As in those ponies from My Little Pony)

One of my paranoid childhood delusions was to convince myself that my parents were actually spies from another country, and I wasn't their son at all. After all, why would they send me to bed at night and then stay awake themselves? I remember pressing my ear to the floor in my upstairs bedroom, trying to figure out if they were speaking Italian.
I am a little Daddy's girl and when I was little my parents and grandparents used to say I could be anything I wanted to be, no matter what it was. Well I went around telling people I was going to be a Daddy when I grew up. How embarrassing
I used to think that the phrase "Why don't you get a day job" ment actually "why don't you get a job that gives you employment during the day?"
So when my dad, who was working night-shift at the time, was grumbling about working at night,
I asked him Why don't you get a day job?
He started laughing...
I now no what that phrase means
I used to believe that people never grow up, that children remain children forever and mummies remain mummies forever without having been children before themselves...

I used to think that when someone was 'fired' from a job, they were actually put in a firey oven and killed! I was filled with dread when I heard of anyone being fired for many years. I thought to myself, 'Those poor people!'

When I was younger...I used to think that you had to pay to get a job. Imagine if that were true. Half of us will be unemployed today.

When my little brother was younger he had large tonsils which caused him to choke a couple of times. Everytime he would choke we would call 911 and the paramedics and firemen would show up. Two times that this happened he choked on hot dogs. So everytime he saw a fire engine or an ambulance with their lights on he would scream out Hey somebody must have choked on a weeny. I'm glad he finally got over that one and figured out what they were really for but it took him a few years. It was hilarious.

My dad was in the army and I heard them marching and shouting as they went "Left! Left! Left! Right! Left!" I wanted to emulate him but I though you had to take three steps with your left and one giant step with your right leg. I thought being in the army would be soooo hard. It wasn't until 6th grade that I finally figured that it was just to keep timing. Hmmm.
I was never sure what I wanted to do when I grew up but my mom was always talking about a particular type of people and how they were 'taking over the country'. I thought this sounded like a really good job so decided i wanted to be a foreigner too!

My little brother, when we read about the guy who played the purple TeleTubby gettting fired. He asked what that meant and my dad said "It's when you get sacked". SO he proceeded to reply "So they put him in a bag and shot him?"

When I was a kid, my mom announced one day that my grandfather had retired that day, and we were going to have a party. I got really upset that we were going to have a party, I thought it was cruel. I couldn't figure out why everyone was being so mean, in that they were all so happy about the retirement. When it neared time for grand dad to arrive, I was terrified - I didn't know how I would treat him. You see... I thought that "retired" was the same as "retarded", and that grampa had somehow spontaineously become mentally retarded!
