When my parents told me that I could be whatever I wanted when I grew up, I took that to mean that I really COULD be anything I wanted. My life's ambition was to be Darth Vader. I didn't know how I was going to be Darth Vader, as I didn't have a cape, and I also happened to be a girl, but I believed that I could be Darth Vader because my mommy said so.

My parents happen to have the same birthday. All through elementary school, I thought you could only marry someone who had the same birthday as you. I was crushed when I discovered the boy I liked in fifth grade didn't have the same birthday as me!

When I was a little girl I very much wanted peirced ears. I thought that when you reached a certain age, you "grew" the little holes in your ears. I had no clue that you had to go to a special place and have your ears peirced there.

When I was a teen, my friends and I were having a discussion about our favorite guitar player. We thought he was really old, but he could still play even at such an advanced age. He was 28 at the time!

When I was 11 and my sister was 7 we told me brother, who was 5 at the time, that he was born a girl but that Mommy and Daddy wanted a boy SO much that they just decided that they would tell him he was a boy. He asked why Mommy didn't just have another baby and we told him that he hurt Mommy so bad when he came out that she couldn't have anymore kids. When he asked why he had a penis we told him that's what all girls have and since he was our "sister" we couldn't show our privates to him cause you can only show them to people that aren't your family. It took quite a few hours of convincing but finally he believed it and confronted my parents with the "lies" they had told him. Needless to say me and my sister were in BIG trouble. My brother is now 21 and to get his goat we still call him "Patricia Michelle" his "real" girl name (his name is Patrick Michael).

My ex~husband, after hanging up the phone one day, told our then three year old son, "Mommy just got fired from her job." He burst out in tears. It was only after he was able to calm him enough to understand him that he realized our son thought I had burned up in a fire!

When I was around ten or eleven, something behind my grandparents house caught fire. I think it was the transformer on the telephone wire. Well, they wound up having to call fire-fighters to come put it out. I remember after the whole thing was over and all the men were leaving... I ran over with a pen and paper and asked for autographs. *lol* I thought they were famous just because they were firefighters, and this was waaaaay before Sept. 11.
I belived I would someday live in a treetop.

when i was a child i used to believe that study a career means that you have to enter for a race, and that in the finishing line there will be some kind of cartels with the name of the differet carees so you have yo be very fast to reach the career you was intended to study!
I also thought that be a mother was a career, so yu cannot be for example a doctor and have children at the same time!

When I was 2 or 3 years old I was informed that one day I would have to marry a boy--well I was already into my "boys have chooties" phase and was horrified (exactly the response my family was looking for). Being independent and determined to find a solution I wandered off to think this through. About an hour later I reappeared and delcared that I knew who I would marry....my brother, 'cause he was the best boy I knew. No one bothered to explain why they were all laughing....

When I was five I asked my mom if I would ever be as old as my older brother. She replied, "Yes, of course." This made me happy. I reasoned: If I would some day be his age, then some day later I might be older than him and I might be able to beat him up then.

When I was 5, the mother of one of the kids in my class came to school to talk about her job, which happened to be nursing. During the talk, she mentioned that if you had to go into "theatre" you should never wear nailpolish, as they need to see the colour of your fingernails to make sure you are getting enough oxygen.
Well, a week later, Mum took us to a play....at the THEATRE...and I had nailpolish on. I pleaded with my mother to take it off with remover, but she didn't have any. In sat there in the theatre gripped by mortal fear for the whole play. Mum didn't have a clue about what I was on about until she talked to the teacher a few weeks later!! Finally it was explained to me that the nurse meant "operating" theatre!!

During a topic about the solar system in year 2 (age 7?) I told my teacher that my dad went to the moon with the Navy. I wasn't deliberatly lying, i really thought he'd been there on his ship.

My mother used to tell us she had eyes in the back of her head and we of course belived her as she didn't even have to be looking and knew what we were doing. she also used to say God has away of letting me know when you do something wrong...we could be outside playing in the water and she would hollar get out of that water...or us in the kitchen sneaking sugar out of the sugar bowl, her in the living room and she'd say get out of that sugar bowl... Boy what a link to God. and boy she sure was special God gave her eyes in the back of her head....Of course when I had my own and learned how she did it, it was fun to tell my own the same thing.....thanks mom.
