I used to beleive that when you turned 18, you were sent a letter inviting you to a big hall and were given a number to bring along. When you got there, the boys had to line up on one side and the girls on the other. You then had to find the matching number from the other side and that is who you married. I remember being worried incase i wouldn't like the person i got matched up with when it was my turn.

After people got married, I believed they went to the moon for their holiday. I was quite putout (at the age of 10) that my family laughed - why else would it be called a honeymoon?

There is 18 months between my sister and I. I am the youngest. I used to believe that I would catch her up in age, as I was 4 she was 6, then I would turn 5 in the middle of the year, and think I was getting older than her.

When I was very young (about 4 or 5) my Dad used to go to work and I would stay home with my mom since she didn't work. He would leave everyday and I would ask "where is Daddy going?", my mom would tell me "he is going to make some money"... I think until I was like 12 I used to really think he was "making money", I would picture him standing at a huge assembly line type of machine producing brand new pennies. I had no concept of work, I really thought that all the money we had was determined by how much he was able to "make" when he went out everyday.

Around the early 1960s, when I was 5 or 6 years old, my Uncle J.C. would come to visit my grandmother, who was living with us at the time. J.C. was a master sergeant in the Army and had no hair. Because President Eisenhower had been in the Army and had no hair, and looked like my mom's side of the family a little bit around the lips, I got the idea that President Eisenhower was somehow related to our family. I never mentioned this to my mother, since nobody else brought it up and I assumed it was some kind of big secret.

I believed my grandmother would protect me from anything. On her 90th birthday we talked about an incident when I was 8 and was screwing with matches and gasoline and almost burned down the back fence. "You could have caught the house on fire and grandpa had to put it out. I had to tell your mother finally you were basically a good kid, but sometimes did stupid things and not to be mad at you." "Grandma, how long ago did you tell her?" "Last year." I was 40...

I used to think that, in the monarchy, brothers and sisters had to get married to make a King and Queen. I was wonderfully unaware of the word 'incest'.

I used to believe that my mum was the queen. She does look a bit like the queen... minus the orb and sceptre.

As a young child I thought plumbers were men who sold Plumbs!

When i was small, i saw my dad leaving home everyday. I asked my mum why my dad went out everyday. She told me "Dad has to go to find money"
Then in my mind, i saw him finding money with other men in a big box full of coins

The first time we took our cat to the veterinarian, I was shocked to find out that the veterinarian was a human. I'd always pictured a big, upright-walking dog in a white lab coat...sort of like McGruff the crime dog..... if he'd gone to medical school.

When I was about 6, my mother told me I could be anything when I got older. I told her I wanted to be a dinosaur or the color orange. I am 21 now with a math degree and I still destine to be "orange!"

When I was a kid, I thought that when I grew up I would be a moose, just like Bullwinkle. I have no idea where I got this impression now, but I really thought it was gonna happen!
