When I was in about second grader I was starting to question growing up and what actually happened. I noticed that my great grandmother was significantly shorter than my grandma. This confused me because I thought to be older than someone you had to be taller. When I confronted my great grandmother about this she told me she was shrinking. This led me to believe for the longest time that once you reached a certain age you began to shrink back down and eventually turn back into a baby.

For some reason, I believed nobody was older than my dad. And it wasn't as if I didn't have grandparents; I did! I just thought that. Then we were at a resturant one night and while dad was talking to the waitress she told him how old she was. At the time he was 33 and she was 42. I remember thinking, "that's impossible! no one's older than Dad!"

When I was three my parents got married. My grandparents are I dropped them off at the airport for them to go on their honeymoon. In the car on the way home I looked up in the sky and could not for the life of me figure out how they would fit in the moon (it seemed so small in the sky). And why on Earth was it filled with honey. What a strange thing a honeymoon was...

When i was younger i thought that college was where you learned how to do adult things. Things such as cooking, washing dishes, and doing laundry. I remember i used to think this because my dad would always make a joke about "you learn that in college" regarding household chores. I'm a freshmen in college now (FSU!!) and its a little different than i thought. haha good times

I used to believe…

When we'd leave for our family vacation, the song "Up Up and Away" would coincidentally always play on the radio. My parents made me believe it was a sign we were going to have a good trip. I guess I never noticed the 8 track player.

My dad used to tell me he had blue blood like the queen. As proof he would point to the bright blue varicose vein on his arm and say, "See." For years I not only thought my dad's blood was actually blue but I believed I was somehow related to the royal family.

I used to ask my dad why he could tell me to do things, and he always told me it was because he is older than me, to which I responded "Just you wait until I'm older than you!"

I used to think that Lawyers were being called liars. I suppose some still do, but I didn't know it was a profession at the time.
