I used to believe that "exotic dancers" were girls who did choreographed dance routines with wild animals. I wanted to be one until I was like 11, when I found out that "exotic dancer" was a euphemism for stripper.

I used to think that in Israel, you could get a driver's license at 13. Why? Because Jewish kids have their bar/bat'mitzvah at 13/12 and are then considered Jewish adults. This belief lasted from when I was 7 and first learned about different rites of passage from The Puzzle Place and all the way up until I was 14.

Most of the weddings I've attended in my life were when I was still a kid. I knew the bouquet toss was for single ladies and the uh garter shoot was for single men.(I'd only seen grooms shoot the garter across the room like a giant rubber band, lol).
I'd heard the custom(?) that whoever catches the bouquet will be the next to marry. So, logicallyI thought that the lady who caught the bouquet and the man who caught the garter had to marry each other.
Hmm... I don't know why I never wondered why we never attended those weddings...

When I was a 12 years old girl and my body started to change, I honestly believed that if I slept flat on my stomach, rather than on my back, my boobs wouldnt develop. I was a bit of a tomboy at that age and hated everything that was going on with my body, so I got the habit of sleeping that way (which I keep now 25 years later).
The funny thing is that Im quite flat chested!!

I used to believe that working in adulthood involved losing at least 1 finger. all the men I knew when I was a child had lost some fingers while warking in constructions, as mechanic, etc.
So I was ok with the idea of losing a finger or 2 when I grew up.

When I was 6 years old, I used to sit next to my best friend in class. He always had new pencils and I couldn't get my head round to how he could possibily change them so often.. when I asked, he told me that his father owned a Pencils Factory and that was right in his house, in a room that I've never entered! I totally believed him, and he would bring me a new pencil almost everyday...
Whenever I go to his place, I still look at that door - behind which there's only a washing machine! - as the door to the factory!
