I used to believe that I could marry my dad when I grew-up. Even after I told him i would he still wouldn't tell me otherwise. Luckily this didn't last because my babysitter had to explain to me.

I used to believe that disabled meant old, and so would say to my nan "Hey, why not go in the disabled parking space?" I wondered why when she refused.....
Yes, I sometimes wonder at myself....This was only a few years ago!!

I used to believe…

When I was two and three I was completely convinced that I had a brother. I told everyone everything that my brother said and did. He was the coolest brother ever and we had sooo much fun together. One problem, I was an only child. One day I told my mom that I was pregnant so I could have a baby for her so I could finally be with my brother. The people at preschool asked my parents why my brother didn't come with me. I still didn't have a brother.
When my mom picked me up from school I'd say "Wait! We forgot something! We forgot my brother!" and my mom would say "Where do I go to get him?" and I'd say "Make a right at the light."
She of course went left and we went home without my brother.
I took 20 years of trying for my parents so after another four my mom eventually gave up. She didn't tell anyone though. The next day the phone rang and someone she worked with called and said they were taking care of a child that needed a home.
We set up a meeting and I met my brother for the first time. I was like "finally!!"
The preschool teachers were kind of confused about how I didn't have a brother but then suddenly did.
I was on top of the world though and I didn't have to give birth!

I used to believe…

That adults had to be three years apart in age, legally, to be married and have children. My parents were three years apart and I was convinced that other people couldn't get married if they didn't have the same age gap. Then I told people that their parents were breaking the law by being married.

I used to believe that I could marry my dad and i would always talk about marrying him when I grew up

I used to believe that all dads were older than all moms. I thought htat was the way it had to be, so I was shocked to find out that my mom was older than my dad. I was in denial for so long after that.... They couldn't convince me that I was wrong, and a person's mom could be older than that person's dad.

I used to have a dream where my auntie would offer a Ferro Rocha and she would chew it up and stick it out on her tongue.

I was so scared every time my auntie came round I hid from her.I have realised she is a great auntie.

My dad works on a minesite, which means flying there, working for two weeks and then being home for one. My little brother was certain when we dropped Dad off at the airport he got on his plane and flew around and around the moon for two weeks until we went to pick him up again.

I used to believe…

My little brother took the 'you can be anything you want to be when you grow up' too seriously. He believed he could just choose to be a prince. That way everyone would have to do as he said, he'd have lots of money and could do whatever he wanted. He'd decided he was going to build his castle in the backyard though, so he could still sleep in Mum's bed at night.

I used to believe…

My parents divorced when I was 5 years old. To get divorced, I thought they had to go to the church where they were married, and walk backwards from the front of the isle to the back. I even pictured my mother holding a bouquet during the reverse ceremony.

I used to think that I was required to marry a man from my own family. I remember being very stressed: which one of my brothers would I have to choose? I told my mom this and she laughed so hard, she nearly wet herself

I used to believe…

My former brother in law (he was about 8) used to think that African-Americans were white people that had grown old. He thought that everyone turned black when they got older.

I used to believe…

When I was about three years old, I remember that I used to believe that the year that you were born in didn't matter when figuring out age...I thought it was only months...so like if you were born in January then you were always older than someone born in August...so since my birthday is in June when I found out that my cousin was born in July I kept insisting that he was younger than me even though he was born the year before me.

I used to believe that my mum will give me an older brother.

I'm the only child in my family. And I really hoped to have an elder brother to take care of me. So when I was very small, I asked my mum to bear me an elder brother. After hearing my wish, my mum was very surprised and she said, honey, I can't bear you an elder brother because you are our first child and even if I bear another baby, it will be younger than you!
I felt very depressed. But after deeply thought, I got an idea. I told my mum that she can first eat me, and bear me an elder brother, then she can bear me again, then I would be the younger one. :P

Until today, my twelve-year-old brother didn't know couples picked their wedding song. He thought whatever happened to be playing at the time of their first dance was the one they had to use.
