I used to believe…

This was my younger sister:
When she was about 5 she told my mom that she couldn't wait until she was 12. When my mom asked why, my little sister replied "because when I'm 12 I can be a mommy like you". My mother laughed and said "Oh no you can't!" My sister got very upset.

When I was very young I went with my parents to their friend's wedding. Being only about 6 weddings were not the most entertaining thing to be doing and my parents knew that I would get very bored very soon. Therefore, my father convinced me that weddings have a break in the middle (just like at the theatre show's i'd been to) where the ice-cream man came round. I was good all the way through just to get the ice-cream. I must say- I threw a wobbler big time when I found out about the lack of ice-cream and in the end the Groom himself went to buy me an ice-cream from the shop near the church.

I was raised Buddhist, and I somehow got it in my head that I had to marry someone who was also Buddhist. I thought the only other Buddhist children were the ones I grew up around, and none of the boys were very appealing to me, so I would spend many nights crying in my room, thinking that I would never be able to get married.

I used to call my granparents Omi and Opi, thinking that it was their real names. At the time I thought how cool that they met and their names rhymed, it wasn't until I was about 8 that I realised that Omi and Opi are grandma and grandpa in german.

When I was a kid I was adamant that I was not going to grow up. My parents thought it had to do with seeing the movie Peter Pan, but little did they know it was because I thought grown-ups HAD to listen to elevator music and always be serious.

I used to think that being in love was some kind of horrible addiction that brain-washed you. Why else would you still love someone who treated you like crap, and stay married to him?

I used to believe that siblings had to marry only siblings in the other family. For example, my husband's brother could only marry my sister, and so on. I tried asking my parents what would happen if someone with 2 sisters married someone with 1 brother, but they didn't understand what I was talking about.

I used to believe my parents were speaking in a different language when they spoke to each other because I was too young to understand

i used to think that my parents were born as adults (in their current size and all) and i would get very upset thinking that i would stay a kid forever because i wasn't born as an adult!

I used to believe that when my parents put me and my younger sister to bed it was so they could take off their masks and relax because they were really aliens, it wasnt until years later that i discussed this with my sister and found out she thought the same thing . FREAKY !

I used to belive that every single grade you got was recorded on a specil report card, which you would recive at the end of college. When my mom's friend asked me why I felt like i had to get good grades one of my answers was:
"Well, so I can get a good job."

My mom and her both laughed. I was confused. They explained my belife wasn't true.
I really thought iot was, and i am 12!

I used to believe…

When I was little, I always pictured teenagers as girls. I never thought of boys to be "teenagers" when they reached the teen age. I don't know why; I guess its because I never knew any teenage boys, only girls.

I used to believe…

When I was about four or five, my grandmother had told me that because her birthday was on the 24th, and mine was on the 29th of the same month, that when she died and didn't have anymore birthdays, I wouldn't have anymore either, and I wouldn't get any older!

I used to believe…

When I was about 4 or 5, my granpa had died. My granma, instead of wallohing, she decided to have a party. Being the strange family that my family was, they made a joke that my grandmaa was having a sex change. And for the longest time, until I was about 10 or 11, I had avoided my grandma because I thought that she had been dating herself.

My fanily got a big kick out of that once I told them why I had been avoiding her.

My older sister told me that at the age of 16 girls turned into boys and boys turned into girls. I was so mad that I had been born a girl because that meant I wouldn't get to wear makeup or wear prom dresses when I grew up (because by then I would be a boy).

I used to believe that my cousin and I were married, because we were ring bearer and flower girl at a wedding. She was five, I was four.

I used to believe that you had to be the sameage a some-one to marry them. If you weren't and got married, then you would go to jail.

After awgile I got that out of my head and up popped anew idea. A Husband was always older than the wife. Then I heard the meaning of the word toy-boy.....

I used to believe that a family had to have one mom, a dad, a son, a daughter, and a baby of any gender. Since I am an on;y child, I thought my family wasn't a real family.

I convinced one of my best friends that when men get old, they don't have enough strength to push hair out of the tops of their heads, and that was why they went bald and why they get hair coming out of their noses and ears. We were fourteen at the time... She still hasn't lived that one down.

When I was little, I was determined to grow up to be a firetruck, and it took my mom quite a bit of talking (and probably bribing) to convince me that I couldn't be one.
