My parents have been divorced since i was a baby, so growing up I knew this. But I always thought of it as my stepdad and stepmom holding hands walking down a hallway, and my real mom and dad holding hands walking towards them. They meet in the middle of the hallway and just trade places, my stepmom matching with my real dad and my stepdad matching up with my real mom. thats how divorced worked in my eyes.
I used to worry about becoming a teenager, because I thought that they had to wear jeans all the time, and it seemed to me that they must be really hot all summer.

When my dad was upset he'd pace back and forth in the living room.
I thought he was only angry when his face turned red, and since I was very young and small and couldn't see his face from behind, I assumed that this was some sort of "hopscotch" sort of activity and I'd pace right behind him. I loved spending time with my dad. This was a great time to play with him. Lucky that my mom was around to tell me not to curse like him though. The leader cursed, not the follower.

When I was rather young, adults would occasionally ask me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I'd hear kids say something rather boring. I wanted to be a male African Lion. I'd say lion and they'd smile like I'd never learn how.

When I was a fairly little kid, I thought that people grew up and then they grew down again. My very old great-grandmother was quite short, because she had a bent back, and she was never super-tall to begin with, so my parents and even my grandma towered over her. I assumed you started out small, and ended up small again.

It was my grandad's birthday and I asked my grandma how old he was and she told me he was 21 and I believed her, but I couldn't understand how that would work, I spend the whole day trying to figure it out.
