When I was little I thought that only married people died, so I said to my mother that I would never get married.

This is really my brothers, he used to think plumbers picked pmubs. He got confused because he knew our grandfather had been was a plumber and he always went plumb picking with our Pop to make homemade jam. He was about seven before he figured it out.
I was terrified of the idea of having children because I was under the impression that you literally had to teach them everything the way a teacher teaches things. Like you 'd have to sit them down and teach them every single word in the dictionary. I thought it would take years and years to do this. It wasn't until I expressed this fear to my mother that she calmed me down explained that children learn language simply by hearing it and being spoken to. This was a big relief.

When I was in third grade, I thought my dad was a spy. He used to travel to all these weird places around the world and send post cards telling my brothers and I that he was "fishing."
I finally got sent to the principles office for lying (of course I told everyone he was a spy). Didn't stop me thinking it though.

Dad's can be so cruel. My Dad always used to tuck me in at night and tell me that he had protected me by sprinkling Elephant powder around the house. I told him that there were no Elephants around here. "Which only proves that its works" he said.

When I was little I thought that getting fired actually meant that your boss would tie you to a stake and set you on fire. When my mom told me her friend had just gotten fired, I was horrified and started crying. It took an explanation and an hour of reasurrance for me to believe they had not set her on fire and that she was still alive. I was about 6 years old.
i used to believe that we were suppose to be born as adults and instead of growing older, we are suppose to grow younger. so when the time comes for us to depart from the world, we are to die young instead of dying old... weird right... the thoughts that i had as a child...
I used to believe…
It was when I was in about kindergarten. We were to reply to the question 'What do you want to be when you grow up?' I figured that since an artist was someone who did art, than a racist was a race car driver. After I spoke my words proudly, the teachers and my parents, plus a bewildered audiance started cracking up.

When a man proposes,he gives her a ring. So I used to think that the bride gives the ring to the man so he can put it on her finger when they get married.
I used to believe…
When my mom explained to me that the bridal shower is whan the bride is "showered" with gifts, I took it literally. I imagined it would be quite painful for the bride to have a bunch of heavy packages dropped upon her and that her gown would probably get ripped and she'd get all bruised up. I wondered why they didn't just hand the gifts to her, but then I figured this was the kinda of thing they meant they said "There's no such thing as a free lunch."

when i was really really small , i used to belive that you got up untill you were eleven , then turned into a baby again. when mum said she was thirty nine , i thought you had to pay God a million pounds so you wouldn't be a baby again. I thought this because i was a baby at the time andcould only cound to eleven.

When I was younger, I used to believe that my mom worked as the tooth fairy. I thought that she got gold dollers from the bank, put it under my pillow, and took my tooth and...well I don't know what she would do with teeth, but that is what I thought.

I used to think that all moms wore glasses
(My mom did, and all of my friend's moms did.)
I'm a preschool teacher and one day I mentioned something to a child about my mom. He looked at me funny and said, "you can't have a mom Miss Kelly, you're a grown up, grown ups dont have moms." HOW CUTE!!
I used to believe that when women got married, a random man off the street would suddenly propose to her. I asked my mom about that and she said that was right and sometimes the man would even get down on his knee! I found that stupid and was disgusted. I vowed to never get married, and I think that vow will last, but for different reasons, of course...
I used to believe…
When I was in first school I started noticing that my friends in fourth year (9 years old, very grown-up!) would vanish over the summer and not be there when I came back in September. I asked one of the classroom helpers where they went; she said they were leaving the school. For another year and a half I believed that once you were nine years old you had to leave school and go to work... in my mind it was never normal office-type work either but something like mining or working in a factory full of smoke. Maybe in Victorian times I would have been almost right.

When I was very small I used to believe that when girls grow up a certain age, they automatically become mothers.
