I believed that the man in the moon was my Nan's boyfriend (my granddad was dead). My brother and I would make drawings of him for my Nan to stick on her door so that when the moon was hidden she had a picture of him.

When I was very young, probably about 3 or 4 I got very upset when my father had to leave the house to go to work. My grandmother hugged me and explained that he was out making money. I felt so sorry for my dad after that - for years I believed that he was working underground in a horrible, dark, hot factory hand carving coins and cutting out paper notes - poor dad!
I thought that children were not allowed to go to baby showers or wedding showers because it was an adults only event where they literally took showers together.

This is right out of "Rugrats" or something. Geeeeez. When I was a kid I used to think all adults worked at the same place. It was in a big building simply called "Work" and always involved something I didn't understand with computers.

When i was a kid i thought i would grow up to be a woman, because i lived with my Mom and my older sister. I reckond all girls would be older and boys younger, so once i said something like: "When i am a girl i'm going to have 3 children..."

My brother once made me believe that he was an Indian child that my parents found in the woods several years ago. His "real" name was Little Buffalo and he kept saying how his own people would someday come for him..... too bad, they never did.

When I was 5 1/2, we adopted my sister through a private law agency. It had been arranged that we would meet the lawyer to get her - at a local bank. For awhile, I believed, and told people, that babies came from banks. When my other sister came along, I figured it out when I could see that there was no way she fit into the drive-through container.
i used to believe when i was a kid that you were only allowed to speak 5 million words in a lifetime and that is why old people didn't speak that much because they had used all there words up

My half-sister is 14 years older than me, so I was about 5 when she was expecting her first baby. Everyone was really excited about the baby, and so was I until I heard my mom say that when it was born she'd be a grandma. I cried because I thought that the moment the baby was born, my mom would suddenly get white hair and wrinkles and I wouldn't recognize her. Mom had quite a time trying to convince me that all grandmas don't have to be old!

For a while I wanted to be a animal trainer for films. Id seen Mary Poppins and thought it was so cool how somebody had got the robin to sit on her finger and sing along with her.
Eventually I forgot about this ambition, until many years later I was watching Mary Poppins with my family. Along came the robin, and I felt a surge of loss to see it was clearly animatronic (and oversized). I complained that I was CERTAIN the robin had been real.
My family now point out any animatronic or CIG animal on TV and tell me it's not real. I'm 18.
(although there ARE animal trainers for TV.... just not for the animal I thought :( )

When I was little, my mom had taken a picture of my me and my dad in a pool with me falling into his arms because he had thrown me up. Everytime I saw this picture my dad would tell me this was the day they got me, I was a monkey that fell out of the tree, and luckily they caught me and decided to keep me. Until I was about 7 or 8 I believed them and always wondered why I wasn't growing a tail.

When I was very young, my sister convinced me that we were a part of an elephant's dream. She said if I made too much noise or jumped around too much I would wake up the elephant and when his dream ended, I would cease to exist. This terrified me into being quiet and remaining still.
