Someone once told me that a hooker was a woman who "sold her body for money." I thought that they must cut off strips of their skin and sell them in big tents like at craft fairs. I never really wondered who would want to buy that.

This story is actually more for our brother...When he was around 2 years old, my sister and I told him that he was born a monkey and had to undergo several operations to make him look like a little boy. Every time we would go to the zoo, my sister and I told him it was cus mom wasn't sure if we were going to keep him or give him back to his real family. (hey, we could have taken the "you're adopted route") It wasn't until he was around 4 that mom finally realized that the poor kid actually believed us... Even today (at 21) he's not so fond of the monkeys... :-

When my sister started working at a bank, she often discussed with my parents about the "Swiss Bank Secret". I always wondered what this could be. I was an inquisitive child. Whenever there was something my parents couldn't explain there way out of they'd say "It's in the rule book." When I asked to see the rule books they'd insist only parents can see the rule book, and everyone gets it when they have a child so they know all the parenting rules.
They kept this up until I was about 8 or 9!

When I was very young, I used to think an "unfit mother" was literally "unfit" physically. My mom would take me out shopping, and I'd get extremely upset when I'd see an overweight woman out with her children. I just couldn't understand why the police would take her children away just because she was "unfit." It made me so sad, and I remember being glad my own mom was thin.

When I was four, I was a flower girl in my aunt's wedding. When my parents and I were getting ready, my dad held up my mother's maid of honor dress and jokingly asked me, "Do you think I will look good in this?" I said to him as serious as could be, "Don't worry Daddy, when you get older and turn into a woman, you can wear it!" I used to think that people changed genders when they got older!

None of our family gets on particularly well with my dad's parents, and my mum has always called them the "out laws" instead of the "in laws" as a joke. Until I was about 10 - well, until I learned what "in-law" actually means - I believed that your mother's parents were your In Laws and your father's parents were your Out Laws.
I used to think that couples shared their first kiss when the priest said "You may kiss the bride". It was weird because I had seen several movies where people had kissed and weren't married.

When I was very little, I thought all adults were perfect. That they never made mistakes in *anything* - like they would never make an error in addition or multiplication, or ever make a mistake. I also believed adults never did bad things, or got angry. I believed this until I was at least 4 or 5.
I was born 15 years after my closest sibling and the rest were married. Until I was about 6 or so, I used to think that brothers and sisters were attached together like those paper dolls we used to make.
