I used to think that only people who looked alike could get married. IE: a boy with black hair could only marry a girl if she had the same color hair... so weird.

when i was really small i thought that there was only three jobs in the entire world. so when people asked me and my two boy cousins what we wanted to be i would say "Nurse!"because i was the girl, and my cousins wuld say "fireman!" and the other, "police man!". its really wierd that i thought that because i didnt know any one in my family that was a nurse, fireman or police man

When I was young I want to grow up yo be a trash man, becuse they only work one day a week.
I was very certain that my parents had had children before my siblings and me and that they grew up and went away. I would ask my parents all the time where they were until I was around 5 or 6. They never understood who I was talking about, but it made sense to me at the time.

When I was a wee lad, I used to walk around marveling at how tall all the older folks were so much taller than me. When I discovered that my parents were in their twenties, I immediatly got excited to meet my grandfather. I figured his head would be in the clouds.
I used to wonder if my family were really aliens in disguise. I can remember riding in the backseat of the car with my older brother, and I actually pulled his hair to see if I could get his mask off. I got in trouble.
I used to believe that when people grew up they automatically were instilled with knowledge and professionalism. I was informed at my first "real job" there are D students everywhere. *sigh*

When I was a kid, no older than 5 or so, I somehow figured that, when you turned 18, you would get an important-looking envelope from the government. Inside would be your signiature, chosen for you, and you'd have to practise it. I spoke to my mom about this and she told me, amused, that you just make up your signiature on your own. =)

My parents divorced when I was a baby. When I was 3 they tried to get back together, the result being my sister.
Up until I was about 10, and had already had some sex-ed in school, I thought my sister was a residual pregnancy from my parents marriage. Then one day my mother pointed out to me that that is impossible, and confessed they had been "trying to make it work" when I was 3....

When I was about 5, my best friend told me that she heard her father was "fired" from work. We discussed this to figure out what it meant. We finally decided it meant that his boss put him in the center of a circle and built a ring of fire around him!

When I was little i thought grandparents had to be hundreds of meters tall...
I once asked my mom what a "bimbo" was. This was around the time of the Bill Clinton/ Monica Lewinsky scandal. Anyway, when I asked this question, my mom replied, "Oh, just some chick who works in the white house."
From then on, until junior high school, when someone referred to another person as a "bimbo", I naturally assumed that the insulted person worked in the white house.

I used to believe that a Granary - the place where you store Grain was a place you put people - Grans - when they got old.
I used to think that I had to marry all the older guys I met so whenever my parents had guy friends over I would ask them to marry me. All of them said yes too! ^_^

Until I was 15, I believed that gay marriage was legal and that the only reason my uncles didn't get married was because, if they did, the government would make them adopt a baby.

In second or third grade, the only career option that seemed feasible to me was teaching at the elementary school level. I'm sure that's because that was the only profession I saw on a regular basis, but it seemed natural and like the only thing I'd ever end up doing.
I went to an elementary school that was literally across the street from my house. There was a window on the first floor from which you could see the schoolyard. I was convinced that whenever I was out eating lunch in the yard, my mother was watching me. So whenever friends offered me fattening snacks or encouraged me to do something Mom wouldn't approve of, I gave a scared glance over to my house and said no - all because I thought my mom had nothing better to do all day than sit in the front window and watch my every move.

When i was 4 my older brother who was 9 told me dat wen i became a tennager i would become a completly different person and no-one would recognise me and i would have to find a new family. i got so upset that he confessed later that night that it was a lie!!!

Once, I told my sister that "I need help." I meant that I needed help playing the piano. She woudln't help me so I began screaming, "I need HELP!" She later came in and told me that she had called the Mental Institution because I 'Needed help,' And that they were going to come and take me away. I cried for about a half hour before I realized it wasn't true.
I honestly believed when I was a kid that some day, at some age (I wasn't sure what age) when I got older everyone would come to me and say, "The way you have been experiencing everything is not the way it really is. Everything is actually better. You just had to experience the bad stuff so you could appreciate the way it 'really is'." Funny, I just grew up and realized everything is just the way it is. You just have to deal with.
Sometimes it is good, sometimes it is bad. Deal with it!
